Vaibhav Sir! What was the focus point to go through a consultancy start-up?

“During my final year, I was preparing for CAT exam. All of the scores in the preliminary tests envisioned a percentile of 99% in the CAT exam. My exam went fine enough, but I scored only 83%. I was shocked, to say the least. I studied carefully the normalization methodology discussed on various platforms. Even for my friends also, the scores were little unexpected. On the other hand, scores of my batch mates for GRE & GMAT were uniform as per their expectation. This got me to the deep thought. I believe it is unfair to take the cream out based on easy/average questions. I think that it is of utmost importance that we should opt a smarter algorithm to rate aspirants for every test. If you want to select the top 1%, this can only be done with tougher questions that picture a clear distinction between the top 1% & the next 1%. Not following it, look what have we done to our IIT JEE? This was the motivation behind starting Zigsaw. We wanted to develop a smarter adaptive algorithm so that every smart guy is flagged & no brilliance goes unnoticed.

I was looking for a technical co-founder when I was starting up, and this assignment gave me my first start-up blues. I tried finding a professional partner through the existing portals, my personal network, social media & all the ways I could think. Honestly, this was a primary reason that highlighted the need for a smarter system, and we started focusing on recruitment. Currently, we are concentrating more on recruitment which is an application of test algorithm rather than the concept itself.”

Small Town Women are Changing the Face of Women Traveling

 

“How will you travel alone?”, “Who will be there to accompany you?”, “No, it’s risky, so go with your parents or any family member.” These sorts of comments are always encountered by every woman at every stage of life. It’s an underlying problem that a woman has to face when it’s about traveling or getting to explore something new. And, to break this stereotypes a revolutionary concept has bloomed in the air of Lake City – TravlOnCards. An initiative considered by Monika along with her co-founders Shikha, Nidhi and Ankit to let woman travel by herself and explore the world that’s waiting for her to fly high.

And, by catching up in conversation with Founder Monika and Co-founder Ankit, we got to know much interesting stuff that is adjoined with women traveling.

Why the name TravlOnCards and, from where this idea got its vision?

“TravlOnCards is basically a woman group tour concept which somehow resembles the surprise that is hidden on your cards. Just like a tarot card reading or Horoscope which usually depicts things that are more likely to happen. And, if a woman really wishes to travel but has always been into the stigma of how, when, and with whom, this is what we are answer and of course a desire to let her begin with the trips that she always dreamed of.

Since college, we have seen this genuine concern that woman can’t travel like guys often do. A stigma is attached with females in our Indian society is she can’t travel by herself. Almost every woman whether she is single, married, professional, aged, or unprivileged has to face this point somehow in life. Moreover, women are always confine in four-walls of their home or kitchen and if she is a working women or a mother, she has added responsibility of kids, career and home. All these things take away the opportunity of women to travel, to explore, to connect with new people, culture and learn something new.That’s why to break this thought and to let women explore herself out of her routine responsibilities; we started with Women #Travel Venture – TravlOnCards – Only and only for the women, by the women, and of the women.”

 

The primary motive behind this concept of traveling is outrageous? How is it beneficial to women?

“This is quite often that women are always tied up with the responsibilities in every phase of their life. During their college days or school, they are not so permitted to travel even with friends. And, then after marriage, they are always bound to the never-ending schedule. So, to give a break to women we focussed on this concept that let’s make woman travel. Out of this counterpart, every lady can enjoy through group trips by being absolutely safe with our team. Apart from all this, our above scenario is not only concentrated towards traveling only, but we also make them learn new things and meet new inspirational people at the place who are somehow changing the place and vision of culture through their efforts. And, by being with us women not only explore themselves but they also get to know what’s upcoming and how they can bring that change at their own place. Of course, girls and ladies can also interact with each other and be friends which are less happening in social media communication. Almost all women who have travelled with us have become friends with each other.”

 

In the name TravlOnCards, you guys skipped the word ‘E’ any reason associated with it?

“We skipped the “E” in the travel, because we feel that all the Essential E’s of life are missing, so together we decided to get back the Excitement, the Energy, the Enthusiasm, and Everything that gives every woman Everlasting cherishing lifetime memories. By going on a trip, she can not only discover new things, but she can relax, meet new people, and make friends as well.”

 

With this concept on an initial base do you got any women travelers from Udaipur?

“Yeah, at the very initial stage, few of the women got interested, and they took a trip with us to Leh-Ladakh. And, we also got reviews on our Social Medias which were quite happening that they actually enjoyed and felt good to built memories for themselves. From the outside zone of Rajasthan in Ahmedabad, we have one more branch that looks up back-end works, from there also we got many girls and ladies interested in trips organized by us. So, we took them to Kerala where we also held cultural learning for them.

Initially, when we were doing pilot projects 2.5 years back, we took our first few trip to the nearby places in Rajasthan at Jaipur and Jodhpur. Then, through their appreciable reviews, we also got many other women who were interested in taking trip to Leh Ladakh, Goa, Delhi, Chandigarh, Amritsar, Kasol, and Himachal. Till now approx. 50+women (of age group 15 to 55) have traveled with us.”

 

What are the traveling packages, duration, and expenses that women can look into your tours before planning?

“We have the certain packages for every woman like if they prefer luxurious trips then we get to arrange trips for them in which we include their visit at lavish stay accompanied with shopping destinations and other leisure’s. Then, we have in our list Backpacking trips for those who love to travel like foreigners and don’t prefer too much off expenses. In that same series, we have adventurous trips that include all the extreme sports like gliding, surfing, and many more. Then, for something relaxing and to change overall personalities of females, we have wellness trips as well in which there are chances to explore the places that are calm, serene, and are completely into the nature’s view that have remain unexplored till now. So, we have divided the sections completely according to trips essentials. Around all that, minimum duration of packages is 4-5 days and maximum duration is 10-12 days as per groups.

In consideration to expenses, every travel plan is different as per the sections. Whether it’s a luxurious trip or backpacking one, we try to maintain reasonable costs for our travellers, keeping their safety & security as our top most priority along with comfort and quality.”

 

Do you have any benefits for the unprivileged women in your travelling services?

“For the women who are financially weak or physically handicapped, we are soon to come up with the small trip in future. As, sometimes it’s not possible for us to sponsor whole trip. So, we are in conversation with the people who can help out to give privilege to these women who want to travel but are uncertain with some financial and physical conditions. And, we will often look for the talented ones which are going to be easy for us to let them take the advantage on the base of their skills.”

 

Where are you heading next with your upcoming trips for women out there?

“As a women, we love beaches, we love snow-covered hills, we love adventure, partying, dancing, shopping, spa and all, so very soon, we are heading to what we call “Maldives of India: Andaman” (8th Dec 2016, 6Days-5Nights), Thailand (6th Jan 2017, 7Days-6Nights), Bhutan, Sri-Lanka, Bir-Billing, Goa, Leh-Ladakh, Hong Kong and many other places including various Indian & European destination in coming months. Along with that, we are also coming up with an interesting Entrepreneur trip in the month of Jan 2017 which is exclusive for women entrepreneurs of India who have a well-established business or have been something unique with their start-up concept, the motive of these women entrepreneurs trips is to change the way entrepreneurs meet and connect. IIM Udaipur – A Quick Look at one of the Biggest Campus in India

The brand new campus of IIM Udaipur in Balicha is going to thrill everyone with its accomplishment as well fresh start in the upcoming year. The campus is exclaimed to be the largest and one of the best campuses in the Indian Education Institutions. Located outside the city, spread across 253 acres of land, the campus will be symbolic remark with the grandeur greenery, splendid construction design, and innovative architecture.

After laying the foundation stone by education minister Smriti Irani in the year 2015, it began with the working of 1800 labours to complete the building at an allotted time. And, with its formal start, now the construction has raised on a quick note. By the results of hard work first contour is completed in which furnishings and interiors are about to finish. Divided into the three phases, as per given estimation, all the phases will be constructed at the outlay of 500 crores.

As per the previous location, the new campus of IIM Udaipur will also have the same facilities as of old college but with additional touch in interiors and increased amenities. The new campus has a capacity of 330 classrooms – A mini auditorium with 8 fully-equipped main classrooms that provides seating of 77 each with the large noise-proof arena. Along with that, there will be a sufficient number of faculty chambers, Placement and Administrative Offices, Library, Canteen, Gymnasium, Bloomberg laboratory, and a one of a kind Gazebo. Washrooms of the academic block will be of universal style for the comfort of those who have difficulty with the regular ones. Also, there are spaces allotted for the clubs that fill up the requirement for the same. For better convenience, Academic area and Hostel zone are joined with the highway i.e. a world class connector. And, the interesting part is that everywhere there will be the parking for cycles and the whole campus will be cycle driven for maintaining the eco-friendly environment.

Air-conditioned rooms for the single occupancy are perfect in place with large windows. And, to make the stay comfortable for differently able students, there are individual rooms in every hostel.
Hostel Complex will also have the necessary sports facilities like – Pool Table in the mess hall, Table Tennis, Small basketball and badminton courts, Volleyball ground, Mini Gym, etc. And, once you step outside the hostels, you can enjoy the breathtaking view cradled in the mountains of Aravali. Also, there are large quadrangles attached to every hostel where social events will take place. A large playground is enclosed to the hostel for cricket and football matches. The campus and hostels are meant to be fully Wi-Fi enabled, and LAN ports will also be available for the students in every hostel room.

 

Food Takeover

Hostels are found to be most offended regarding food. But, in IIMU facility of food is involved to be the most important for gourmets. Mess food and night canteen will be available for students to fight the hunger. As per details from the inside authorities, the food court will also come up in time along with a cafeteria. Additionally, there will be a lakeside coffee lounge and a health food café in the sports lounge.

 

Water, Cleanliness, and Electricity Aspect

According to the authorities, there will be five lakes inside the new campus out of which one has a capacity of 57 million litres and will always be filled with water. Rest of the four lakes will have the harvesting system. As per resources, the water harvest zone is not present in other campuses of Indian Institute of Management which is definitely a unique factor of IIM Udaipur. And, for the clean surrounding, the zero-waste facility will be concerned in coming years for utilizing Decentralized Wastewater Treatment Systems, vermin-composting, and biogas production. For electricity generation, later on, solar power farm will be implemented on campus.

 

Udaipurites!! Initiator of Film Production in Udaipur: Mukesh Madhwani

The beauty of lakes, a taste of cultural cuisines, and an imperial history all these things define Udaipur very well. But, what we love the most that describe Udaipur well are movies shot here. History of movie shooting is not a new thing to Udaipur as urge from international as well national banners have selected Lake City for the shoots. And, when it’s about being a helping hand to producers and directors for the shoots over here is the name of Mr. Mukesh Madhwani, a prominent person who is familiar to many. He is the versatile personality handling multiple businesses of Catering, Bakery, Event Management and Line Production in Udaipur. We also got to know that beside business, he was also serving as social reformer being as Secretary of Rotary Club “Udai”. And, at present he is Committee member of Jacobabad Sindhi Panchayat and Sindhi Yuvaaz.

His presence in the scenario where the new ideas are first criticized than later on appreciated is a part of achievement for which everyone has to fight for. But, he believes in the statement of Paulo Coelho that “There is only one thing that makes a dream impossible to achieve: The fear of failure.”  On this simple note, we came up with the journey of Mukesh Madhwani, who has been a superstar of the film production and has led to a dream to bring up Film City in Udaipur itself.

It’s easy to reach the top but hard to maintain. But, in the case of Mr. Mukesh Madhwani, it’s been a long journey to get to the top and he stated that struggle has not been over yet. When we asked about his introduction to Film Industry, he exclaims with relief that..!!

”It was a random catch for my father as during 1980’s when the shoot of Octopussy movie was about to start in Udaipur. My dad was asked by a good friend to serve the catering at the shooting spot. And, somehow my father also got convinced to work for and straight from our kitchen of Ashoka Caterers; the meal was prepared on a quick note and visit to Shiv Niwas Palace was made where authorities tasted the food. Luckily, everybody loved the food and rates were appropriate as per their demand. So, we started our supply to the production department for crew members in the film. Later on, we also covered the catering at the shoots of Jodhpur and Jaipur which gave us the opportunity to make a supply in all over Rajasthan.

And, when I completed my graduation and course from Food Kraft Institute, I got involved with my father into the business of catering. In the year 2000, we started A-catering where we served food to the different big banners. After that, the actual turn towards movie production came up with The Fall film which was shot in Rajasthan in 2005. With one of my friend and companion in this industry Mr. Anil Mehta, I involved in taking the legal permissions for the shoots as many directors and producers conveyed to us about their problem to have a rush when they want to shoot historic places. In the year 2007, I became the Local Assistant Manager in the Film production sector of Rajasthan (Udaipur). This thing continued for two years and in the year 2010, actual turning point the idea of Film City conceptualized in my mind. And, heading to this with enthusiasm, I continued my journey as Film production in Udaipur by struggling for a Filmcity in Lake City.”

Besides, we recently launched our new venture CineSpectrum. A Pre-wedding & wedding film production house with the high-end photography studio. And, we are also looking up with the social group Amantrun on Facebook.

“In 2010, when we head started with an idea to have a Filmcity in Udaipur. We first contacted our local administration to initiate this plan. And, got positive feedback as well!! Later, we reached print media to spread the idea of Film City in Udaipur. From there also we got positive review!! Again, we shared our idea with film Stars shooting in Udaipur, and they also loved the idea of Filmcity in Udaipur. Same in the series, we met with Television stars as well, and they also supported that a Filmcity in Udaipur would be great!!

Then it was a milestone; big day came for us when we got to meet stalwarts of Tourism, Rajasthan’s Royalty and Government. And, from there the series of meetings started with Vasundhara Raje (Chief Minister of Rajasthan), Royal Custodian of Udaipur, ShreeJi Arvind Singh Ji Mewar, and Maharaja of Jodhpur Shree Gaj Singh Ji, Fondly called as Baapji. While meeting with all the higher authorities, we also got that even they were interested in promoting a Filmcity and complete production set-ups in Udaipur itself.

Apart from all this, in our campaign of having Film City in Udaipur, I have assembled the best people to associate with. Out of which one is Anil Ji Mehta who is my mentor and Rajasthan Line Producer. He has 35 years of experience in various aspects of Film Production. He has been a part of hundreds of Hollywood films, Bollywood films, television serials and advertisement shootings. He knows the mega budgets of the shoots and forecasts film city revenues to be 500 Crore every year for the government and local public.

Santosh Ji Kalra who is an IT Guru and Consultant. He is one of the pioneers in Udaipur IT industry since 1999. He manages of social media communication, presence and impact. He has successfully launched and runs hundreds of online campaigns. And, Mr. Dinesh Ji Gothwal who manages print media, press releases, and print communication with government and administration. As a team we have covered great number of TV serials, commercials, documentaries, corporate music videos, and photo shoots that includes big movies like Raam-leela, PK, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, The Cheetah Girls, Marigold, Life of Pi, and the recent one Mirzya.”

Memories Unfolded: Udaipur Lantern Festival 2016

Here ends Diwali and we are indulged in the memories that give us a feel of satisfaction to unite the lovely community of Udaipur. After a hectic schedule and break as well some moments still leave us spellbound when we look into the gleam of #ULF2016. With every passing year, Udaipur Lantern Festival has been a spectacular event amongst the people of LakeCity. And, this year also #ULF2016 has left so many unforgettable memories filled with happiness, joy, and a message to celebrate clean and green Diwali together with your family and friends.

A concept by UdaipurBlog, started with a lot of preparations, it came up as a challenge to make every arrangement and fulfil all the expectations with enthusiasm. But, by seeing the reviews, support, and love of people, we can say, we did extremely well. From Lanterns to display stalls, from delicious food to rocking musical night, it was blended with all the impressive things that you can think of.

From the very beginning, people enjoyed the counters of fun activities – Angry Birds, and Spin the Wheel. For introducing the community to heritage culture of Mewar, a stall of UdaipurBlog and Rajasthan theme were framed to let people know the rich hues of Mewar. To enjoy the fun of capturing beautiful moments, Selfie Booths with props were made available which flaunted Game of Thrones and Floral store. And, for satisfying hunger strikes live food counter of SpicySigdi was available there to serve delicious snacks, along with refreshing drinks by Brewberrys.

With the mesmerizing glimpse of Lanterns in the air, bright shine in the eyes of the people and smile on every face made the arena even more fascinating. And, that’s not all most important part of the production was handled by the main Presenter of the festival Frozen Apple Events. And, to give the direction of a voice to the fest anchoring was lead by RJ Ankit Mathur.

 

By adding more hype to the occasion, performance was thrown by the India’s leading fusion band NASYA who enthralled the stage and crowd with the rocking touch. Last but not the least; we can’t miss out the DJ night which was entangled with the performance of DJ NEET who added spice to the wonderful evening with the musical beats.

It was not just the evening, but an experience that would be cherished until the next Diwali. We can conclude it as a promise, a lantern for a cause that brought a light in the life of poor and unprivileged women and children of Ashadham Charitable Foundation with the amount of money that got collected from the entire event.

Born To Dance – Sumit Lekhari (SADA – Sumit’s Academy of Dance Arts)

“Some are born great while other achieve greatness.” Facing every challenging phase with dedication and never giving up the spirit has always been the attitude of Mr.Sumit Lekhari, founder of SADA – Sumit’s Academy of Dance Arts. His entire struggle has got him to this level of perfection and has concluded him from labour to a choreographer. When the team of UdaipurBlog met him during his dance classes, it was an amazing experience for us to watch everyone going with the flow of beats. And, a conversation about his life and achievements came up this way:

How did you kick started with your journey as a choreographer?

Genuinely speaking, I never wanted to be a dancer as I didn’t like dancing much. But one fine day working as a labour at optical factory an accident happened & it changed the whole story. While lying on the bed pessimistically, I came across Hrithik Roshan’s story, journey of his struggle with physical problems and how he overcame from them through Dance. Being a fanatic, passionate & enthusiast, I started following dance culture. The appreciation after every performance was really a booster and worked as an encouragement & aspiration. From that moment I knew that I was born to be a dancer and later respectively choreographer.

Did you receive family support in respect to your stream?

Not really!! Issues with family have always been there because of some personal choices. Previously, my family wanted me to do 9 to 5 job to get financial support. But, I don’t blame them as at that point of time dance was not socially accepted then.

Who is your dancing idol and how that person has inspired you?

Hrithik Roshan, enormously influenced by him and still looking up to him. His attitude of never giving up made him a dancing idol and self-driven.

What are the best moments that you still remember as dance teacher so far?

I would like to answer this question with Napoleon Hills quote “Strength and growth come only through continuous effort and struggle.”  There have been so many great moments, and I feel so blessed every day but to mention one there was a time when I was struggling and constantly running out of money. During those days I was up to an assignment where I had to pick up my students from their home to dance class and again to their home for 1 month 40 km every day and eventually we ended up winning 1st prize. It was an absolute challenge yet one of the best moments so far. Lekin aaj meri SADA (dance academy) par 2 buses hai jo sainkdo bacchon ko lane le jane ka kaam karti hai.

According to an estimate, how much money do choreographers make compared to a stable job?

Dance is one of the most competitive fields when it comes to strong financial security. It is not like any other government job where you can get equal and satisfactory wages whether you are good or bad. If you are good enough and technically sound, well disciplined, loyal to the routine than nothing can stop you from making enough money.

What is the most challenging part that you face in your profession?

In the beginning, financial problems were the biggest challenge. As I mentioned earlier dance was not socially, and financially stable stream to pursue to change that perception of aspiring and potential dancers was the biggest challenge I have ever faced, and I am still trying to figure out. “Ke bhai gyan loge to hi gyan doge, agyani hoke to agyan hi batoge na or dusro ko galat misaal pesh kroge ki dance main kuch nhi rakha.”

Except dancing what you like most?

I consider myself workaholic and visionary. When I am not dancing, I tend to drag plots of positive things and constructive ways in mind. I love reading materialistic work and cultural diversities, and it helps me to develop my artistic instinct.

What advice would you offer if someone wants to consider your field of dance as a career?

  • Work hard
  • Never stop learning or questioning.

One more piece of advice I would like to offer is that dance is an expression of who you really are? So never pretend and keep it real.  “Accha dancer banne se pehle accha insaan bano.”

What are your goals for your academy SADA?

SADA has its own distinct and definite objectives

  • Ideas are to create productive and inventiveness environment for aspiring students.
  • To make every student self- sufficient.
  • Develops positive moral conscience/ ethics and discipline.
  • Revolution in dance with legitimate strategy
  • We advocates and avid to support contemporary youth arts like Parkour run, BMX, Beat Boxing, Graffiti, Skating.”

We heard that you had developed your own dance style called SUMFEEL, what it is all about?

SUMFEEL is the word inclined by Sumit’s profound understanding of rhythm. “SUMFEEL” is the core element or you can call it as philosophy of SADA.

It is the practical study and understanding of feeling such as aggression, moderate & defensive from various songs. It allows you to roam in some kind of mystical inner world of yourselves. In short, SumFeel is the proper brand new way of meditation. SUMFEEL is the prototype dance technique combination of Contemporary, Jazz, and Acrobatic.

Functions of SUMFEEL

  • It gives you an in-depth understanding of songs.
  • It will allow you to correct your soul to the feeling of a song.
  • SumFeel is the way of expression.
  • It is the way of love and fight.
  • It is the way to convey your message to society.
  • It is a zero hour – total meditation.

If you could describe your dance academy in few lines what would they be?

What’s your life mantra both as a dance guru and a person?

Like Life, dancing also involves series of strides where one can reach step by step.

Step 1: Dancer – A common man

Step 2: Performer – A common man with training

Step 3: Teacher – Trains common man

Step 4: Choreographer – A complete man who creates

If you ever try to skip any of these steps you are bound to fall, even if you somehow managed to get the next level you will reach with incomplete knowledge.

Sumit! This is quite motivating as dance for living is another thing but, a life entirely dedicated to a career and to live for dance is the most spectacular thought that we have come across.

White Tiger Ready To Arrive Udaipur From Chennai, Faces Language Barriers

“Either the tiger learns Mewari language or the caretakers here learn Tamil.” The specific words that officials stated on the buzz of white tiger’s tongue hitch.

But, this is an exciting event for Udaipur and wildlife lovers as very soon Sajjangarh Biological Park is going to welcome big cat “Rama” in the territory.

Rama is a five-year-old white male tiger who is being moved from Arignar Anna Zoological Park in Chennai. His relocation is a part of an exchange program in which two wolves will also be sent from Jodhpur and Jaipur to their new location Vandaloor Zoo (Chennai).

By seeing the language barriers, this appears to be causing a problem for the white tiger which has somehow officials did not foresee.

And, after knowing about the big cat’s dialect, the forest department team from Udaipur, which has gone to bring the tiger from Chennai’s Arignar Anna Zoological Park, is also going to bring his caretaker who can command tiger in Tamil. That’s why his present caretaker Chellan is going to accompany him to his new home along with a veterinary doctor.

After understanding both the population and language situation, the Central Zoo Authority has approved the exchange and expecting the revenue of the Udaipur Park.

Rahul Bhatnagar, Chief conservator of forests, Udaipur, said, “We already have a female tigress, Damini, brought in from the Pune zoo last year. The presence of male tiger will help in improving the tiger population.”

“There are huge numbers of animal lovers in Udaipur, and the presence of white tiger will be another attraction for them. The park witnessed a footfall of 80,000 this year and generated revenue of Rs 25 lakh,” Bhatnagar said.

This hitch of tiger who understands only Tamil language has left zookeepers in a fix, but it is definitely going to amaze everyone with its presence.
