5 things I hate about The Celebration Mall, Udaipur

The Celebration Mall Logo
The Celebration Mall Logo

This Logo is a Property of The Celebration Mall and is taken from their website

The Celebration Mall, Bhuwana : A joint development of CapitaMalls Asia & AIPL (Advance India Project Limited) is the first and only Heritage Mall of Udaipur offering wide ranging services of a Mall. But there are certain things we hate about it and it will be really appreciable if they can work on this.. !! And make this Mall – A happening place to Be 🙂

Proper Drinking Facility:

While checking out the complaint/suggestion book of the celebration mall I found that the most hated problem is of “Drinking Water Facility”. This problem is prolonging and no one is taking care of it. Can’t the mall Authorities add Proper Drinking facilities in the Mall to facilitate people???

No Personal Celebration in Celebration Mall:

For this point I would refer to one of the incidents me and my friends faced.. ! It was one of my friends birthday and we all planned to have birthday celebration in our ‘Celebration’ Mall. We were ready with the birthday cake but there was no place to cut the cake; Finally we found our space on the 3rd Floor in front of the local shoppee zone. We found a table to place the birthday cake and when we were about to cut the cake the security guards caught us all and stopped us to ‘Celebrate’.  So My question is why can’t a Mall named ‘THE CELEBRATION MALL’ have some space(apt suggestion for this will be to get a FOOD COURT soon!) to really ‘celebrate’ Waiting to hear the answer from them.. 😉

Not enough place to sit:

How do you feel when after buying a McDonald’s Meal on Sunday you don’t find enough space to sit comfortably and have your meal. I hope that sentence was enough to describe my feelings. This BIG Mall with 90,000 sq. ft Area don’t even have enough space to make proper seating for people who come there. 🙂 Anyways.. I hope they improve this too 😀

No Locker Rooms:

Again would add my personal incident in this heading.. 😛 Being a responsible citizen I always care to wear Helmet as my Local Traffic Police suggests. One fine day me along with my friends planned to go for movie; Maybe it was my first time to enter into celebration mall with a Helmet. 😛 When we went to PVR we found that no valuables were allowed inside. There was no place to keep our helmet or bags in the complete mall. As my tickets were already booked so I had to keep my Helmet outside in open space(maybe some construction site inside!!). After enjoying the movie with fear of losing my Helmet when we came out I found that I have really lost my HELMET worth : 1200Rs.  I don’t know whom should I blame is it the Mall Authority or PVR. I had my point so stated it here 😛

Official Website ain’t updated about Events:

Every now and than there are various events that keep happening in The Celebration Mall (Maybe In order to prove itself that it really celebrates :/ ) but their Official Website: is never updated about these events and schedules or even photos of these events.. 🙁 Its our generous suggestion to keep us all updated about your mall happenings through your site because we have more reasons to love it than to rather have 5 things to hate about it 🙂

There are still many points people hate such like not being allowed to clicks pictures inside, can’t run or have fun inside etc. Do Share your comments what are your views about the celebration mall. We will definitely inform the Mall Authorities and wait for their answers about this.. 😉

  • has taken the initiative to keep the site updated with upcoming events.
  • This Article was forwarded to Mall staff but No response from the Mall staff yet including the Managerial Team. :/

    Nice Points Sanjit.
I also have a point. the Exit road for parking lot was the worst one i have ever seen in any mall, when i visited the mall. atleast they should properly take care of the roads and the neighborhood environment.

Hate that they dont allow Photography inside Mall, hate that the security staff try to be rude, hate that they allow Parking outside Mall cluttering the Road, hate that they dont have reward schemes for regular customers.

    Kuch cheezein aur…
    1. Udaipur tourist place lihaaz se yaha aane wale mall me bhi pics lena chahte hai…jo yaha ka “rude” staff allow nahi karta…
jabki un pics se inki publicity hi hogi…

    2. Mall authority ne apne kiye vaade ke mutabik abhi tak 50% shops bhi open nahi karwa payi hai…is kaaran itna bada mall khali khali suna suna lagta hai…shopping ke jyada options nahi hai..kai bade brands like lewis, lee, lifestyle shoppe, shopers stop, KFC abhi bhi udaipur se door hai….

    3. Mall ka maintenance system bhi thik nahi hai…. kai baar escalators band milte hai… mall me kabootar udte huye bhi mil jayenge…

    aur bhi bahut kuch….

    1. Their lifts are inefficient and not operational at all the times.
    2. Not sure why they don’t allow photography inside. It’s one of the best malls I’ve ever visited and they should allow this to let the whole world know.

    1. Its always better & wise to take ur drinking water bottle along with u. btw McDs must be having this option. Ask them & u will definitely get it.

    2. Keep ur personal celebrations private plz.

Its really annoying that an educated person like u tried to use/trespass an unauthorized space for the purpose other than what it was earmarked for! Kudos to the mall security!

    3. Hey! u r still young and energetic. Keep shopping at the mall and sit in a garden …or may be PVR 😛

    4. Get a helmet lock fixed to your bike and take care of ur belongings. How can u place ur own belongings at some construction site and that too unguarded and then blame that u have lost it!!!

    5. People like me expect surprises at malls. Unexpected offerings enhances my shopping experience and keep me coming back to those place. Don’t try to spoil my fun just because u wanna more fun!

In gist, all your complaints aren’t really qualified complaints! They may be a personal suggestion at best. So don’t rant about it. Try to take all these in your stride.

I admit all your points ashutosh ji… !!
But what i felt is what i expressed… Its not just a problem that only I face…check out the other comments too 🙂

The Ratio or People Like You to People like Us is 1:10
That accounts that it is really a serious problem …

My Reply to your Points :
      1. Why should i always rely on an overcrowded McD for Water rather than such a big mall providing me with this facility. ???
Its not always that i carry water bottle from my home before going to a mall :/

      2. That was just my point that if its celebration mall than it should have a Place like Food Court built beforehand to let us celebrate .. :/ Don’t you think so ?

      3. There is no garden and after shopping i can’t enter PVR 😐

      4. I admit that keeping my helmet in some risky place was my fault for sure.. And Yeah its a good suggestion to get myself a Helmet Lock But What if i have a BAG along with me i cant rely on my Bike’s Lock for that…. :/ What if i shopped many items and i don’t have place to keep them if i plan to go for movie 🙁
Sorry but i don’t agree with this point for Locker Room.

      5. If you expect surprises please don’t visit their site its just an option for all those people who want to be Updated about the Mall sitting at their Home.. 😉

Its not that easy to defend them 😉 And Yeah Remember i love this mall a lot… but if they work on this problem than i would surely love it more 🙂

      Mr Ashutosh,
Your advise to carry a water bottle is good but its always not possible and there is a limitation also to carry the quantity of water.
If somebody is coming to such a big mall there is nothing wrong if he expect a facility of free drinking water, hope u understand our ????? culture.

      • Ashutosh
        January 9, 2012 at 4:58 pm

        Hello Mr. Chetan!
It looks like u r a bit carefree kind a person.
Total water consumption of an average adult is not more than 2 to 2 & a half litre per day. And u go to shopping for a couple of hours only …may be a bit more. But a litre of water will do well for over 3-4 hours. And if u stay that long, u will obviously munch something where u can consume water too 😉 Shopping Malls are not for lurkers but actual shoppers. And if u r a real one, u can obviously ask for it while shopping at any store and believe me, to this day, I have been always obliged by a glass of pure as well as cold (in summers) drinking water by the merchant establishments whenever demanded.

Do u know Water is the most sensitive & valuable food we ever consume these days? In third world countries like India, over 80% of disease are water-borne. You can not serve any water as drinking water to all types of people. And fact is all types of people come for shopping. So serving R.O. / Mineral Water to a big floating crowd requires several big purification plants …and mere installation don’t serve the purpose, they have to be maintained well! From where do you think the cost of operation will come from? We, the shoppers. And retail market being very competitive to cater to the price-sensitive Indian middle class consumer, u need to offer your no-frills services everywhere.

And finally, your mention of pyaoo-concept looked to me a little funny! How many times in the past year have u yourself used any pyaao??? Man, pyaoos are passe, bottled water is in!

Though slightly off-topic, but I’ll mention this too you:

I remember traveling by Indian rail in my childhood. Whenever train used to approach any platform, everyone used to get ready with their water-bottle or jar. And before even train screeched to halt, passengers used to jump and race to the nearest water-tap. When they everyone was back (some disappointed with no water) the water of that city becomes the topic of discussion (until the next station). Was it hot, cold or warm, salty, sweet or whatever, you always need to wait for another stop 🙂 Thankfully all those things have now gone to history after the advent of bottled water culture. Same is true with pyaoos too!

Buddy, take your water along with you or purchase a top-up bottle when u require more. Its readily available everywhere these days. Don’t be very princely ..or nawaab kind. Its ur own life. (Malls do not fall into a hospitality industry).

ashutosh pl don’t force ur ideologies on rest of the people . any place in india which has such no.s of visitors are by law required to have basic facilities {drinking water being one of them} during those train days people were not having their own four wheelers or ac at home does it mean they should not have it even now ??
what if my 70 yr old aunt comes along to select some clothes for my son ? so a casual sitting facility has to be there {whatever is available isn’t enough?

and please do some homework about water intake required go to the game zone wid two kids for 2 hours and u may sweat more than a ltr so how much water one should carry is ones own issue. facilities like drinking water can even cut on the amount of plastic waste

and yes i too like surprises and partying so i have to know about an event in advance to enjoy it I can’t go there daily ???
          thanx 🙂

    Are you nuts?

If the name of the mall is “Celebration” ; you will even go there for you’re wedding celebrations? Even if they open a food court (eatables from outside are not allowed) .

You talking about sitting space ; so malls are not meant to go and simply sit there. And yes they necessary need for oldies are being fulfilled.

I agree with the water and locker room thing. Stop writing anything and everything which comes to you’re mind and what you feel is right. Apply generalization.

I may sound rude but that is the reality.

Gee!! You know one gets the feeling that the people who have been disparaging the points raised by Sanjit may actually have something to do with the mall staff or ownership. Kudos to Sanjit for being a gentleman and not taking the same tone as they did.

As to the points themselves…I feel they are valid. A mall which can maintain top of the line washroom facilities cannot spend on drinking water!? Well it ought to. Keeping costs low so that the customers find things affordable???? Do you think that mall is affordable?? Take a check fella! You have all these so called top brands there….everything is premium priced. Shirts for 1100 bucks, sweaters for 2000 and thats the trend there not the exception. It aint so affordable after all. Besides…..frankly….I do wonder what exactly is it that that mall has to offer that cannot be had elsewhere ( for those prices, duh). It is mostly the experience that people come for and if that cannot be good, well your malls gonna be in trouble bro! The most peopled shops are Easyday and Mc D there, which give relatively cheap stuff. They are strategically priced in fact to increase footfall….basic marketing mantra. See for yourself.

So the gentleman providing rebuttals PUHLEEZE check your facts and your tone. Thats mostly what got me to defend this article rather than feeling strongly for all the complaints.

    • Ashutosh
      January 9, 2012 at 7:44 pm

Sorry Shazia if my words offended you (obviously assuming that you are pointing towards me!), but I would like to emphasize that your mention of apparel prices here doesn’t mean that these prices are not competitive! If you don’t believe me, try to find the same brands & same stuff at any authentic location and compare for yourself. Products (not the price) could be of premium category.

See Shazia, I have never been to this mall but looking from outside it looks like an architectural marvel …never seen such designs for Malls! So you may be right that products here are a little upmarket. But this also imply\ies that they are targeting upwardly mobile people. But I can not understand that people can pay Rs. 2,000/- for a sweater, can’t they pay Rs. 20 for quenching their thirst!!! Why do they expect free water? Anything free should not be acceptable to such people.
and you told that they gotta top of the line loos ….well this should be chargeable too 😉
Pay & use model makes economic sense along with instilling the sense of responsibility.

(I also disagree that Easyday & McD r strategically priced to increase footfall to the mall. Bharti Group & McDonald’s have balance-sheets independent of the Mall and they need to book profits individually!)

And regarding my affiliation with mall staff or ownership, u can guess when I state that I haven’t ever visited this mall even once!

      On second thoughts:
Malls should serve free drinking water. And why only Malls, all public places, cinemas, buses, trains, footpaths, car parking, etc. should serve free drinkable water. And why only water, serve everything free whatever you can …I love freebies!

Perhaps I have offended u again. But it was not intended. Sorry again!

        January 15, 2012 at 1:26 pm

Quite good quarrel going on here already. Even I too was there at the spot for few incidents mentioned here. I dont fully agree with few points, but also, would just like to say that okay, we do need to carry water bottles with us, ethically and morally. But there’s a vast difference between what ‘I’ think and what the culture here is trending. Everyone in this city expects a public drinking water service corner even in any small corner of this 90k sqft or so large space.
Another point that quite pinches me is the bad customer complain thing. Only maintaining a log shall not help in improving themselves. What you say maybe okay from the point of view from mall, or the administration, but everyone must adopt a bit to the trends being followed in a particular city where they enter. This falls under the category of superb market study. A mall can just not survive with targeting only the top notch people from the society, and that too in Udaipur, where they are quite scarce, also when there are few more giants planning to enter this business and this city. Everyone loves freebies, but water is something different you know, and will always be.
Moreover, why did they build this wonderful architectural marvel if they do not want any person to click their memories with it and take away with them. If they are talking about the security stuff, let me clarify that none of the so called security breachers of potential threats shall enter the mall with big DSLRs and digicams, to show off themselves in public, even a 12mpx mbile camera works fine. Moreover, when a person photographing has no issues, the person being photographed has no issues, as well as the pillar(and not entire building) which acts as a background for the picture has no issues, why do the guards/security deptt has. Even we too belong to a responsible class from the concerned city of Udaipur, and care about the stuffs.
Moreover, there must be token-locker system at the PVR, thats my perspective. if someone carries any valuable stuff too, other than helmet alone, putting it in the two wheeler may not be so reliable thing.

        Dear arya manu!

Sorry to disappoint you but you never directed anything to me or readers in general. You were only answering to Mr. S. Aggarwal (clearly mentioning that its for “him” only …though I couldn’t make out how u & Chetan r so sure that S. Aggarwal is Sahib & NOT Sahiba!). …and whatever you said there was acceptable to me* (*with some exceptions though;) )

And I don’t think the other comment made by Manu Arya in English (as compared to Hindi used by you) is by you.

And more importantly, I don’t want to hijack Sanjit’s blog for expressing my views (when there are no takers of the same 😉 ).

I have probably offended most of the readers of this blog here. So I don’t want to continue my assault any further.

I would like to apologize to one and all (esp. Sanjit, Shazia, Chetan, Yash & you) to hurt your feelings, for being rude and a little uncivilized in my tone and all other expressed & tacit allegations held against me.

And I promise that In future I’ll hold my views & opinions to myself and will NEVER express them on this platform.

Since I don’t have any populist views and the owner of this blog is an ardent follower of democratic system, I feel worthless here. (Well to be frank, I hate democracy, for me every view and every opinion counts. Any solution which can not be universally accepted or be customized for one and all is NOT a solution but a PROBLEM for some one. …well I should not go any further here …come to my blog 😉 ).

So dear if you really feel to hear from me, click over my name here and send me a message over FB, I’ll reply you with complete individual attention 😉

But mind it …I am not that cult figure Ashutosh “BABA”, which I am being made here 😉

I wanna share something that i found completely wierd…
when i entered the parrking lot somewhere in december on my bike.. i was surprise when ticket giver asked me to remove my helmet so that my face is visible on cctv camera in parking lot..

    1) how do you expect someone to hold my helmet in hand n ride a cbr and riding bike in parking without a helmet is equally dangerous… this is not a right message mall authorities are sending if in case this rule is applied in general???

Whereas when i come in car which has tinted glasses I was never asked to come out of the driving seat and show my face in cctv and then enter the parking with a ticket!!!

I hope someone gives an explanation to these questions of mine

    January 27, 2012 at 1:52 pm

Remove the Helmet near the ticket giver to enter the Celebration mall car parking to park my bike. This rule by mall authority is really silly. I owe an explanation!!
