A new Electronic Interlocking Signalling System has been commissioned at Udaipur City Railway Station. The new system would enable automatic route setting for reception and dispatch of trains thereby improving safety and ease of traffic operations.

Udaipur City Railway Station, which falls under Ajmer Railway Division, has replaced the age-old obsolete mechanical signalling system at the City Railway Station. The system would simplify signalling alteration in connection to the future yard modification work.

Besides giving signals to the train, the EI System also monitors the train reducing the errors and failures. The benefit of this system is that it works precisely and accurately.

Udaipur to host India’s First International Tournament – Racketlon

Udaipur will be hosting the first-ever International Racketlon Tournament, 1st India Open Racketlon Challenger Tournament 2020, which will be held at Field Club, Udaipur from January 10 to January 12 2020.

As conveyed by Mr Manish Murdai, President Racketlon, and Mr Deepak Bhansali, Vice-President Rajasthan Racketlon, the event which is being organised by Rajasthan Racketlon, under the aegis of Rajasthan India Sports Association will have a total of 46 players. These also include 12 international players from Germany, Switzerland, Great Britain, Hong Kong, Canada, Belgium and Australia.

There are also some renowned names like Commander Ashutosh Pednekar of Indian Navy who Gold Medalist in the 16th World Racketlon Championship and 2019 Finnish Open Double Champion Kevin Ho Ching from Hong Kong who will be participating in the tournament.

The Secretary of Rajasthan Racketlon Association, Vikramaditya Chaufla and Prashant Sen were the members of the Indian Squad for the World Championship in Germany in 2019.

What is Racketlon?

Racketlon is a combination of four racket games viz – Table Tennis, Badminton, Squash and Tennis which competitors play in a sequence.

There will be a total of 6 events in 1st India Open Racketlon Challenger Tournament 2020:

  1. Men A – Elite
  2. Men A – Elite Doubles
  3. Men B – Advanced
  4. Women’s B – Amateur
  5. Seniors 40+ – Singles
  6. Seniors 40+ – Doubles

The event will be held at Field Club from January 10 to January 12, 2020, and every participating player will earn World Ranking Points.

Udaipur getting ready to become ‘The White City of Rajasthan’

The old city of Udaipur is getting a makeover. The Smart City Company is painting the buildings in off-white colour giving back Udaipur its old identity of the ‘White City’ of Rajasthan.

After the Pink City of Jaipur, the Blue City of Jodhpur and the Golden City Jaisalmer, Udaipur is now striving to bag its old title of the White City. However, the term goes beyond the conventional conception of colours.

Originally, the White City of Udaipur got its existence since the rulers of the city made beautiful palaces and castles with white marble. The highlights of the city like the City Palace, Jag Mandir, Lake Palace, Monsoon Palace were all painted in the colour which also symbolises peace and unity.

Besides, the aerial view of the city will show that most of the houses and other ancient structures in the city are white.

Under the Smart City Project, historical buildings like Bagore Ki Haveli is also under the process of restoration. You can already see the ‘white-city’ effect on the Jagdish Chowk – Gangaur Ghat Road.

Udaipur-Kota may soon have Rail Connectivity

The MPs of Rajasthan have asked the Railway Minister to restart the Udaipur-Kota train which earlier was running between the cities on trial basis since the last two months.

The train brought relief to passengers travelling between the cities on a regular basis. It was stopped from running after 1st January 2020. This caused a lot of inconvenience to people who were regularly travelling between Udaipur, Mavli, Chanderia, Bundi and Kota.

Earlier, the train used to start from Kota at 1 PM and reach Udaipur via Bundi, Mandalgarh, Chanderia, and Mavli at 6:40 PM. This same train was leaving from Udaipur at 6:40 AM and reach Kota the same day at 12 noon.

Since the train has been called off, the people are now dependent on Nizamuddin-Udaipur Mewar Express if they want to travel to Kota by train. The Mewar Express is usually crowded and the seats already reserved.

 

Why should there be a dedicated train between Udaipur and Kota?

Udaipur and Kota both are Metropolitan Divisional Headquarter. One is the tourism destination whereas the other is the education hub. Since both are the major cities of Rajasthan, there should be a proper facility for people travelling between the cities.

Taj opens up another property in Udaipur

Yes! The hospitality arm of Tata Group of Companies, the Indian Hotel Company Limited (IHCL) added one more property from Udaipur to its collection of authentic luxury palaces.

The old heritage property from Udaipur, The Fateh Prakash Palace, run by Shri Arvind Singh Mewar’s HRH Group of Hotels is now in a new pair of hands – The Taj Group. IHCL will now manage The Fateh Prakash Palace Udaipur, making it the third hotel in Udaipur managed by Taj hotel.

So this makes Fateh Prakash Palace, Taj Fateh Prakash now!

This new addition is an important milestone in Taj’s portfolio of grand and luxurious hotels and palaces. Also, this will make Taj Fateh Prakash Palace, the third property owned by Taj Hotels in Udaipur and making IHCL the largest hospitality operator in Udaipur.

The talks between both the parties had been on since some time. The groups commenced their valuable relationship long back when Taj Group acquired Lake Palace in the year 1971.  In fact, IHCL recently renewed its lease agreement for Taj Lake Palace, Udaipur for the next 30 years.

Taj Fateh Prakash Palace is situated on the banks of Lake Pichola and is nestled inside the opulent City Palace Complex. Built by Maharana Fateh Singh Mewar, this 19th-century property possesses 65 luxurious rooms and suites along with regal fine dining space including Surya Darshan Bar and Sunset Terrace. Udaipur 2020: New Year – New Hopes

Engineering Marvels

The tourist city these days is experiencing a lot of congestion in road traffic movement. With the number of vehicles increasing day by day, the Municipal Corporation and UIT together need to concentrate development of engineering designs for flyovers, underpasses etc. As per the latest news, Pratap Nagar flyover work is going on in full-swing and under-pass work at Delhi gate may begin soon.

Public Transport

Lack of proper public transport facility and non-availability is one of the reasons for increased traffic congestion. People are bound to take their vehicles due to non-availability of public transport thereby increasing the number of vehicles on the road. The Smart City Company is working on a project to run around 35 city buses in the city.

Clean City

The Cleanliness Survey team will be visiting Udaipur in the month of January. The results for the Clean City Survey for India will then be declared in a few months. Udaipurites are hoping to get the top position in the clean city survey. Besides the efforts made by the government bodies for keeping the city clean, it is also the responsibility of the citizens to support the efforts and keep Udaipur clean and green. The long due Ayad project has been the topic of discussion for a long time now. The project involves keeping the river that goes through the city, clean and full. Lake Pichola Cruise

Soon the beautiful lake of Udaipur, Pichola Lake, will have a 150-seater cruise floating over it. The 3-storey ship-like cruise will give tourist more reasons to visit the city. Udaipurites got this news sometime back. Now, they are waiting to see it happen in 2020.

White City

The Municipal Corporation of Udaipur along with the Smart City Company has started the work of painting the walled-city white, giving Udaipur its erstwhile glow. We may expect to see the buildings of the old city in white or off-white colour. It is noteworthy that Udaipur is also called The White City of India. Painting the old town white will also add to the beauty of the city and the tourists will get to see the heritage-look of the city.

Six Lane Projects

The Debari-Kaya six-lane project is in its progressive mode. If completed in time, 2020 will see better management of highway traffic especially for vehicles travelling from Chittor, Pindwara and Ahmedabad side. The Debari Greater Crossing will give a beautiful look of Udaipur before entering the city.

Rail Connectivity

The broad gauge work on Udaipur-Ahmedabad railway track is in full swing and is expected to get completed by the end of 2020. The broad gauge work will connect Udaipur to Ahmedabad and Mumbai and will also open more rail route facility for Madhya Pradesh.

The 3-day long Winter Festival at Mount Abu will begin from 29th December and will end on 31st December 2019. The festival is organised to showcase the rich culture and heritage of Rajasthan and offer tourists a delightful vacation at the only hill station in Rajasthan.

Jointly organised by the Municipal Board of Mount Abu and Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation, the cultural festival begins with an elaborated parade that goes through the hill station and ends at Nakki Lake.

Mount Abu Winter Festival features various classical and folk performances and thereby serves as a platform for the traditional artists to showcase from Rajasthan and other states of North India. The festival is also an opportunity for the tourist to get familiar with the warmth and hospitality that the state has to offer.
