Udaipur petrol pumps to remain closed on 23rd October

Rajasthan Petroleum Dealers Association, Udaipur, said that all the petrol pumps in the city will remain closed on October 23. This is to protest against the Government’s refusal to cut VAT on petrol and diesel.

There are around 140 petrol pumps in Udaipur. All of them will remain closed from 6.00 am onwards on October 23 and remain closed till 5.00 am on October 24, 2019. The statewide strike has been called after the government hiked the VAT on petroleum products by 4%. This hike has increased the fuel prices by 5 to 9 rupees. This price is higher than that of the neighbouring states, which has resulted in fall of revenue.

According to the Association, the situation has been presented to the government a number of times earlier, but there has been no positive response, due to which the dealers are forced to go on strike.

The dealers also informed that the strike is indefinite and may continue in the absence of any favourable measure. The Association presented a memo on this matter to the District Collector and District Revenue Officer.

PAN-India Entrepreneurship Awareness Drive 2019 reaches UDAIPUR

Entrepreneurship Cell, IIT Kharagpur is a non-profit student organization established with the aim of fostering the spirit of entrepreneurship among college students in India. We are one of the most successful entrepreneurial organizations in the country with over 50 start-ups incubated within just 10 years of our inception.

Entrepreneurship Cell, IIT Kharagpur is proud to present The Entrepreneurship Awareness Drive (EAD), one of our major flagship events. Since its initiation back in 2009, EAD has now grown to cover 22 cities in 22 days. “You learn when you see” with this basic idea, EAD consists of a series of guest lectures and workshops, wherein students get to learn from the ‘achievers’ of the society.

This year the esteemed presence of Mr. Amit Panchal ( Co-Founder All events.in), Mr. Praphul Misra (MD Oi Media and Founding Partner Customer Strategy Network), Mr Dip Jung Thapa (Co-Founder Kratikal), Mr Tushar Chhabra (Co-Founder and CEO Cron Systems Pvt. Ltd.) Ms Tanya Kathpal (Founder Eat My News and TEDx Speaker) and many more others, will surely impel the students and make them envision entrepreneurship as a career. The students would get to know as to what path they must choose to live their dream and turn their out-of-the-box ideas into reality.

Entrepreneurship Awareness Drive 2019, Udaipur will be held in Techno India NJR Institute of Technology on 12th of October. The Entrepreneurship Awareness Drive also coincides with the launch of the regular round registrations of our International Business-Model Competition: Empresario. Empresario is an Annual Business Model Competition organized by IIT Kharagpur, where business ideas in all the fields ranging from Product and Service to Social, get an equal opportunity to win prizes and incubation opportunities worth INR 2.5 cr. The prizes and services for the winners as per the last year are worth 35 lacs INR.

This year, Entrepreneurship Cell IIT Kharagpur is proud to present Empresario 2019 in association with International Business Model Competition (IBMC). The best entries will get an opportunity to participate directly in the quarter-final rounds of IBMC 2019, which will be conducted abroad.

About 25% of the entries in the Business Model Competition, Empresario, were from participants of EAD which underlines the impact of this unique initiative towards motivating young minds towards entrepreneurial thought and action.

158 colleges participated in EAD 2018, with 24 colleges associated IIT Kharagpur to conduct the EAD in their respective campus. During the drive, many colleges expressed their interest in setting up entrepreneurship promoting bodies for the benefit of the students.

Skating for the cause of girl education

Hansika Kamoya, an 11-year-old skater who is embarking on a journey on skates from Udaipur to Delhi (723 km) in 11 days, will begin for her mission on 9th October.

Hansika’s unique journey will be flagged from Fatehsagar Pal, Udaipur at 7:30 AM. She will be skating via Chittorgarh, Bhilwara, Ajmer, and Jaipur and will reach Delhi on 20th October 2019. On reaching Delhi, she will be participating in Airtel Delhi Half Marathon and then will return to Udaipur.

Hansika is trying to achieve this feat as a part of Shruti Seva Samiti’s Nanhe Sapne campaign which aims at raising awareness and public support to help more girls get a quality education. The unique journey also aims at collecting funds for girls quality education.

“I believe that I should motivate girls to pursue their dreams and break the stereotype.”, says Hansika.

Finally! Jaisamand overflowing after 3 years.

The beauty of the lake city is finally overflowing in the form of Jaisamand. After the torrential rain shower which was witnessed in some parts of the city on Thursday evening, the second-largest manmade lake, Jaisamand, outpassed its capacity of 27.6 feet and started overflowing.

Although many parts of the city were deprived of Thursday rains, there was an inflow of water in almost all the lakes of the city after the heavy showers experienced on Monday night. This has brought the water level of all the lakes to its highest capacity.

It has been weeks since people have been waiting to see Jaisamand Lake overflowing. This incident has happened after 3 years as earlier the lake was seen in this form in 2016.
