A Salute to my Country – A Tribute to our soldiers

amarjyoti16th December 1971 – Dawn declared India’s Victory over Pakistan; and Bangladesh got liberation from its illegal rule. Once again triumph of truth over evil was reaffirmed. Many soldiers lost their lives for our neighboring country.

16th December 2011 – A fine winter day with chilling breezes. Everyone was busy in his own life, seeking solutions to his own problems; flipping through the pages of newspaper, gossiping about the deflation in the market and biting cold adamant to break its records. But alas! One short article, present at the corner of page, was unable to catch hold of many eyes. And even if some pairs of eyes would have read that headline, they didn’t bother to read the whole of it. Not even 2 out of 10 random people had slightest of the hint about how bravely, 40 years back, our jawaans compelled Pakistan Army to surrender them and agree to make Bangladesh free of its rule. Even after mugging those numerous historical dates a number of times for G.K. and History exams, I also forgot this day and so did many.

Late at night, when history of this salient day became evident to me, I sank deep into a feeling of pride admixed with a sense of guilt. Pride over my country; pride over our most treasured possession, our soldiers, who not only guard our borders and give us a safe and peaceful life but also shed their blood fighting for the rights of a foreign country and its residents. Pangs of guilt took hold of me about how I forgot this cardinal event, not only this year but for past so many years. Lines from the famous song “Aee mere vatan k logo” kept playing in my head and I felt as if those soldiers are asking us to “zara yaad karo kurbaani”. I wondered when we can remember birthdays and anniversaries of our dear ones then why not these days which shine with the bravery and sacrifices of our soldiers.

Even if we had remembered this day or try to retain those upcoming dates, what we would have done??? Just a corner in the 16 pages of newspaper or 10 minutes story on news channels telling about the history at the back of the day. Maximum would be done our government which will put shawls around the shoulders which carried the cold and lifeless body of his young son or say two words to that wife whose eyes get wet even today on karvachauth. And we, the common masses, would just take it as one more event in the history of growing India.

Is that all we can do???  No not at all. Those martyred soldiers never had that selfish motive of being awarded with gallantry award nor did their family members demand for compensation money, certificates and medals. We need not make ‘Shahid Smarak’, big statues at circles or roads and bridges by their names. We only have to retain them inside our hearts, feel proud of their audacity and be grateful to them for leaving behind an easy, secured life to guard our nation

An appeal to all Indians – Though we are a day late but there is no date fixed for thanking someone. Let us give just 5 minutes out of 24 hours to praise those courageous soldiers and commemorate their countless sacrifices for us. That will be the best way to repay for their shed blood and their precious lives that they put at stake only to shield our lives. I hope now we will never forget these days of grandeur and the heroism of our army men that these days tell us.

JAI HIND…!!!

Notebook+ : An Innovative Tool for Engineering Aspirants

Notebook+

Engineering has become the profession of choice for every student that has scored good marks in 10thboards. You can hold your degree in hands in a shorter period of time compared to other professions and also get a promising job with best payments and perks. The growing desires of students to get selected in best of engineering colleges, which will mark their first step towards a bright career, has made the entrance exams a cut throat competition. Every correct answer confirms your gate pass to IITs, VITs, NIITs, etc. and so aspirants need to excel in every subject and every topic.

Who can better understand the mental state, the confusion and problems these students face than those who have themselves gone through this phase and made their way to IIT itself. 3 students in final year of IIT started a company named “Plancess”. The interesting thing is that one of those 3 students named Nitesh Salvi is from our Udaipur City. 🙂 With an idea of refining student’s preparations, they designed “Notebook+”- set of 3 books that perfectly cover Physics, Chemistry and Maths.

Now you must be thinking of the reason behind naming it “Notebook+” and not only Notebook. Well, that’s because, this Notebook not only allows you to write in it but also sharpens your memory with the important formulas/equations/reactions that are printed at the bottom of each page. It works on a simple fact that anything which passes in front of your eyes repeatedly and many a times gets imprinted in your grey matter for a longer period of time. These 3 “Notebook+” serves as a reservoir of 600 and more important formulas and reactions. Using them continuously will help you memorize these formulas and you can solve any question or numerical in almost no time.

Prudhvi Tej Immadi (AIR-1 in IIT-JEE 2011) is currently pursuing his engineering in IIT Bombay. He says that “Notebook+” is a very helpful tool that is sure to add an extra knowledge in every student that uses it. He finds the definition of Notebook changing from “something in which you can write” to “a book in which you can write as well as learn from it”.

Loads of Learning: The word LOL just got another meaning

LolEmag

Greetings to All! India is a country with highest young population. They say India has got what no other country has; the Youth Power! But, how you think does the power come? Through being more in number? If that were the case, Pandavas would never have been able to conquer in the epic of Mahabharata. What we understand is that power comes from being united and the Indian youth, sorry to say, is not at all united. We are very much bothered about ourselves, and not the country. Yes, we are highest in numbers but we all are scattered, divided and unorganized and the reality is that this unorganized youth is taking India nowhere and someday or the other we will lose this advantage of being highest in numbers.

The energy that we have needs to be channelized in right direction and the leaders that we are witnessing are not organized themselves to guide us in the interest of nation. What can we do then? Should we sit and keep blaming our leaders for not doing enough to help us grow?  But we can’t afford to do this our whole life. So what can be done? Either accept the system which is very easy or try and bring about a change in the system, a change that is though small and slow but will allow us to breathe free. For once, let us all think that when people at the time of independence, without any resources, can create an excellent working system, then why can’t we overhaul it with so many resources and the tag of being ‘e- generation’ ?

When you go for a job interview, qualification will help you to get in the interviewer’s room. Then what? Then you struggle badly and fail to get a job just because you were educated, not learned. We have seen people thinking deeply when asked “What is the capital of Asia?” some of them even tried guessing that!! Sounds funny, isn’t it? But the truth is that there is lot more outside the social networking and course books. And the need of the hour is to keep ourselves aware of what is happening around in the world. You may find a lot more magazines on stands containing loads of information. But ask yourself the last time when you read a whole magazine? Most of you never did! And the reason behind was that there are very few or almost no magazines that are specifically designed for our generation, and we are too lazy to try to understand some of the excellent magazines and reading stuff available.

Keeping all this in mind, we are trying to create a 16 page reading material that is not only interesting but also very informative and suits all classes especially the badly informed youth. This magazine is our contribution to the small change that we are trying to bring in the present system. It is a non – profit venture started under a trust. This is our first interaction with you and we hope to bind ourselves with you all through a common cause of making this world, especially our own Mother India, a better place to live in.

The ‘Real’ Rockstar

The Real Rockstar Movie Poster

Bollywood is a world full of dreams. Bombay, the birthplace of the INDIAN FILM INDUSTRY, has changed to ‘Mumbai’. There was a time when ‘Bollywood’ implied only to the big names viz. Khans, Bachchans Etc. But now a new trend has emerged and the surging number of new faces clearly showcase it. Gone are the days when you needed a ‘Silver spoon’ in your mouth to get in the industry. Also B-wood has moved from making movies inspired by ‘Freedom Fights’ only. It seems crystal clear that movies based on mere ‘Real Life’ or even “Personal incidents’ find a room and with this formula working, makers do come with stories that the audience can relate to themselves.

A simple story written by an ordinary man catches the attention of the Big Name Holder and that’s when the ‘Day Dreaming’ comes into play. But as we say ‘Char Din Ki Chandini, Phir Andheri Raat’, the Helmsman is forgotten. All that remains is the Popularity Tag! And here comes to our so much anticipated Ranbir and Nargis starrer directed by Imtiaz Ali.. Well Yes! You got it right. It’s ‘Rockstar’ all the way through.

Imtiaz Ali the director of ‘Rockstar’ was on a visit to Subhash Ghai’s well known Acting Institute. It was there that he met the scriptwriter Muazzam Beg, The ‘real’ man behind ‘Rockstar’ story. After Imtiaz’s first meet with Muazzam, he was invited over for a next meeting. “I was invited to Ali ji’s place and after exchanging few conversations, he asked me to narrate him my script. At first I was quite hesitant but then I thought may be I can crack any opportunity.” Says the ‘Money Hai toh Honey Hai’ writer Muazzam.

“I began writing the script from the perspective of a local guy who is determined and ambitious.  The script had elements of love and music. ‘Rockstar’ is my piece of work and therefore very close to my heart. Often, ‘An Artist’s Work Portrays Himself’, so does mine. Much of the script was based on my personal experiences and struggles” says he.

“A production house approached me and decided to make my dream of seeing my story on the big screen come true with John Abraham playing the lead. After 2 months, the project was put on hold and soon was called off. As for me I took a break from writing and other things kept me busy for a long time.”

“The very idea of letting Ali ji take my story was heart ripping. Moreover they haven’t given me the due credits. I want people to atleast know that this was my piece of work.” says the writer who also visited Udaipur while the time he was writing this story.

Tribute to Teachers

What comes to my mind when I think of Ultimate bliss or a perfect gift from god is a “Teacher”. A significant figure in our life who provides us tips, tools, techniques and knowledge to help us expand our consciousness and raise our energetic frequency.

Apart from parents and family a child spends most of the time at school and it is in school that the character of a child is molded. A teacher inculcates values, traditions and principles in every individual’s life for more than 10 years , and these 10 years are the most essential years for the growth . The teacher is like a potter and the child is the clay. They take what is plain vacuum almost, and changes that clay into a stunning pot that can be used and can be helpful in a million ways. By this it implies that the child is given to the teacher by being normal and it is the teacher who actually gives the student’s life some direction.

A teacher is a perfect blend of knowledge, love, guidance, sacrifices and values. A teacher puts in great effort in everything she does for the child. A teacher’s efforts are enormous. A teacher helps us in ascending in life, in the sense that what she plants today in our mind may one day help us become a great person and come up with flying colors.

SRKrishnanLets salute our teachers by honoring them on this great day celebrates Teacher’s day by remembering a leader, the teacher of all teachers Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. Dr S Radhakrishnan was born on September 5th, 1888 in Tiruttani. He is one of the famous Indian philosophers and statesman, his birthday is celebrated as the Teacher’s day. He was the first vice president of India and then became the president in 1962.

Dr S Radhakrishnan started his teaching profession at the Madras Presidency College, he then became the professor of Philosophy by the University of Mysore. His philosophy journals include The Quest, Journal of Philosophy and the International Journal of Ethics. He even wrote books titled “The Philosophy of Rabindranath Tagore” and “The Reign of Religion in Contemporary Philosophy”.

After serving as the principal at the Harris Manchester College, he later became the Vice- Chancellor of Andhra University. Popularly known as Sarvepalli, he even represented India at UNESCO and later as the Ambassador of the Soviet Union. In 1952, he was elected as the vice president of India. He was the first vice president and the second president.

When his students and friends requested him to celebrate his birthday on September 5th, he suggested them to celebrate this day as the Teacher’s day.

We bring some blessing from all the teachers, teaching the geniuses all round the Lake City !!

They fast during the days of this month and make special prayers at night.

ramadan udaipur

Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic year. It is the holy month of fasting. Ramadan is the month the Qur’an was revealed with clear guidance and differentiation (between good and bad.) Whoever of you is a witness of this month, should fast.

During Ramadan, all Muslims will go without all the pleasures of the body throughout the hours of the day. Sawm is the intentional control of the body by an act of will. During that month Muslims renew and re-establish their commitments to Allah. They read the Qur’an, and perform the night prayer. During Ramadan, Muslims avoid many evil deeds that would invalidate their fasts and act of worship.
