Divine Idol Behind Saksham School – Dr. Achala R Mogra

“Every child is special, but some are uniquely chosen to be very special,” that’s what we need to conclude and realize whenever we see a child that requires extreme attention, care, and support. Children born with physical and mental disabilities both are treated in the way of disappointment or burden by many parents. But, it is to be understood that Kids with special needs deserve to live a healthy and happier life like all others. The general thought of several people and society towards these children was understood by Dr. Achala R Mogra, founder of Saksham (The school for very special kids) and president of Neelanjan Seva Sansthan.

Dr Achala Mogra 2

saksham the school for very special kids

Dr. Achala initiated Saksham around 2 and half years back on 1st September 2013 as a centre to redefine the future of special kids and their parents. Every parent that came to her with the disability of their child received the joy of healing that they discovered in their kid. Her attempts and love that cured many children’s made parents also realized that they have a very special child who is God gifted just like others. For better brain development and potential of kids, various therapies like Neurodevelopment therapy, sensory integration, Acupressure therapy, physiotherapy, PECS, Visual stimulation, acupuncture, Yoga, Naturopathy, Reiki, Mantra therapy, and color therapy are done in Saksham.

Along with Saksham School, Mrs. Achala have also initiated DARE society which is the school for physically handicapped children in Bihar and Jeevandhara Institute of Neurodevelopment in Kerala.

When we came into the conversation with her, she described the two reasons that are behind all the attempts which she has done till date. And, out of which one of the inspirational reason is her son who is life to her. Dr. Mogra left all her work, just to treat her son ‘Archit’ to see him growing by beating all those disabilities that are termed as a challenge to handle by the society. As soon as she saw herself as a parent to a very special kid, she realized that many want that their child should also lead a normal life by pulling out all the concepts that have been built since so long. With the belief that “Children with special needs aren’t sent to first parents, they make parents special”, and that’s what as a mother she has experienced.
dr Achala R Mogra son Archit

From that initial phase, her research in the field of Spagyric medicines from past 12 years made a substantial difference to patients of cerebral palsy, Down’s syndrome, muscular dystrophy, Cancer, thalassemia, and much more. As a Spagyrist, she got her training in Italy and out of very few doctors in India, she got certified as Iridologist. But, her achievements doesn’t end up here, she has been given several awards for her outstanding work in research of Spagyric medicines and holds several acclaimed articles along with research papers in her courtesy. She is a renowned electro homeopath and many Eh practitioners all over the country and abroad are using her medicines to treat very special kids.

The school of very special kids is not just the boom to our Lake City but, a tribute from Dr. Achala. Hats off to you, and May God bless you to continue with such a great work for the betterment of child that are still denied by the society.

If you also know any of the children who requires very special care then, don’t just wait to give a gift of love by the Saksham that too at an early age. So, that you can see the child nurtured well at the adolescence.

[Intro Entrepreneurs] Jay Dembla – Men with Class

jay dembla udaipur men with class entrepreneur

“Being stylish is not just the matter of fact, it’s an attitude that every person should carry.” That’s what we get to heard on board by meeting Jay Dembla – a young entrepreneur that runs his brand “Men with Class“, and I was pretty surprised after seeing his irony in the fashion and latest trends. With no less than time, he became friendly with our team of UdaipurBlog and shared his experience with the conversation about his start-up and his success till now. But, that’s not all the main part that was concluded is followed up here that shown his real aspects towards his dream that he has built in 2 years. And, that’s what I explored by asking him few things….!!

Tell us something about your online business “Men with Class” and from where did you get the idea?

The name “Men with class” itself signifies the meaning, and its collection is beyond any particular age. And, suggestible to every man out there who is fond of fashion and considers the presence of the appearance on priority.

One morning I read an article about a young guy pursuing his talent and interest as his profession through his artwork, and I always wanted to do something which inspires and interest me. I never wanted to follow the typical process everybody does, the school then college then job then finally having a thought of being on the wrong path.

Style doesn’t go with the brand. That’s my opinion, but as they say, brand reflects class, so does my collection. The idea was basically to make accessible and approachable to youth and make it classy.

When did you give a kick start to your business? What were the initial reactions that you got from the people?
Shades and men accessories

It all started after my secondary exams and by seeing the era that is truly inspired by technology this idea tickled over my mind, and as I can say it’s lucky enough that right thing clicked on a real time.

Apart from this, the reactions were quite favorable and gave a boost to my confidence.

So since two years you are running your business, how would you remark your profile till date?

I need to go a long way still. It’s just the beginning, to be honest, I cherish it. I don’t believe in numbers, I am my own competition, each day passes ‘Men with class’ grows and so do I. That’s what the things are important for me as per my outlet.

How many orders do you process in a month? What’s your approximate turnover?

wrist band men with class products

There is no fixed ratio. Like any other business, some days are a celebration and some are not. Monetary aspect keep on changing but what is more to consider is satisfaction of my clients that I keep on first priority.

What’s your funding source and from where did you get all your stuff and products?

I started it with my initial savings, whatever the pocket money I used to save, I used to take invest that in my business. So, no massive funding. It all just started with 1000 Rs. Then as each single day passes, it grows.

There is no particular source I buy products from whatever is demanded by the clients I make available in the expected time; I believe unique things don’t need a tag.

What were the happiest and bitter moments that you faced throughout your 2 years journey?

customer review men with class

Success and happiness aren’t easy to achieve. Customer satisfaction is the utmost priority and joy. But, it would be lie if I say there are not any bitter moments, initially I faced a rough patch from my close friends. Be it emotionally or morally I did felt betrayed but as it is said, if you are right then nothing can stop you to conquer what you want.

How do you manage your studies as well your business?

I’ll not be diplomatic, I am not too studious, and was always inclined towards my work, and time management is the utmost quality of an entrepreneur. So, I manage accordingly without freaking out or getting into tough schedule.

What’s your favorite brand of shades and watch in your products itself?

formal casual watch men with class

I am not a brand specified. Whatever is unique and classy is on my list. I prefer the things that are available on the rule “Sasta, Sundar, Tikau.”

What do you prefer the most to do when you are in spare time?

Well…my spare time is dedicated to music and traveling… Whenever I find free time, I’m in my world alone with my bike and headphones. 😀

When I feel tired and sad, music and traveling helps me a lot to get over my low attitude.

From 1-10, how will you rank yourself as an entrepreneur?

Rank? Whom should I compare with? I am not into a race. Numbers fluctuate. I am yet to achieve heights and still a long way to go according to latest trends and field of marketing.

After 5 years, where do you see “Men with Class”? If you tend to gain better opportunities will you still continue with it further?

men with class instagram logo

Men with class started with just a page, and now it’s turning to a website. After 5 years I am planning to have outlets in India and to indulge into a fashion line on the long run.

As nothing can be a better opportunity than enlarging and exploring a company you are owning. Men with Class is not just out of my interest now, it is my dream that has turned into reality and taking its shape across my client network.

Jay, it’s been pleasure to know about you, as the young entrepreneur that too at the age of 19, you are growing so well with your dream.

We wish you all the very best towards success in life and May you achieve everything that you have dreamed off.

For guys I would like to suggest, if you want something stylish and unique product for yourself then, hop on with Men with Class. And, girls surprise your men with sweet appealing gifts for being much more loved 😉 by choosing and following the social media of this online outlet.

[Intro Entrepreneurs] Srashti Ostwal – Eldee Cosmetics

No wonder beauty is a natural reward given by God, and no doubt God has made every person with some qualities and flaws as well. But, don’t you think guys we care a very less about that beauty which is a tribute to us and must be taken at peak point to represent more elegance.

There is no dual phase that we want a striking and maintained look just with a little touch-up. So, that it won’t affect our skin and blends well with the neutrality that is worth to have. And apparently, no one admires a heavy make-up and hoax appearance that can appear in facial cuts after using non-reliable beauty product. Every girl just loves the cosmetics that can make her look flawless and get her a fairy skin.

This concept of polishing up the natural look without too much of extra efforts that I encountered in my mind was discovered in a young diva of our Lake City “Srashti Ostwal.”

After meeting Srashti, I got to know about so many beauty brands, cosmetics range and how to enhance yourself with make-up tricks that are necessary to learn for every beautiful girl out there. And, had a conversation with her about lot many things, and she came up this way to our team of Udaipur Blog and me without any hesitation which we really admired the most.
Srashti Ostwal Udaipur

From where did it all start and how you came up with the idea of Eldee Cosmetics?

It was not at all a coincident I got into fashion and glamor industry. Since childhood, I was wooed by makeup and stuff. I had a personalized makeup kit and vanity box at the age of 5. During my teenage, I was a loyal client of many international brands and I always came up with a huge list while my brother was in London and New York. So it has been all in me since the very start.

I kept on experimenting different types of make-up products and techniques as it was my hobby as well as passion. Because of that knowledge people actually started asking me about makeup and at that point which was four Years ago i thought to turn my passion into profession and started learning even more about this industry. Gradually, I studied on technical aspects and did lot of research with hit and trials of products and made up my mind to feature few of the best products. It was more than a surprise when my articles and reviews earned attention and people loved them so much. Soon I started getting online inquiries.

What does latest beauty trends mean to you and how you can define them in your online outlet?

Rather than runway fashion, I think beauty trend is that style which people actually can pull off on themselves.  As I mentioned, my passion from childhood brought me to this stage. I never miss experimenting new products. I keep on studying what products are trending in the international market as well as the brands which are working so well. My passion about makeup products keeps me up to date. That is how I keep on adding new products which are in vogue to our Product bank. I also try to put a spotlight on not so trending products which can be put to great use. And trust me this kind of articles are our best sellers.

The range of cosmetics that you provide online!! Do you feel it is suitable for all skin types?

We provide a premium range of professional cosmetics. Few of them are:

Body shimmer, long Wearing Lipsticks, Waterproof lipsticks, eyeshadow palettes, blush palettes, concealer palettes, brush sets, 36 hours lasting eyeliner Professional, Nail art styling tools.

Yes, our products are suitable for all types of skin. But we still and we advise our customers first to swatch and test it on wrist or neck. Each of our products comes with the proper direction of use. Our professional team ensures that all the goods that we provide are of best quality.
gold lipstick beauty product

You are connected with lot many people out there. So, how much orders do you process particularly in a day?

We have been selling on the bulk order basis, and now we have started our online and offline retail as well. We do have a spun-out list of loyal clients, and we keep on sending them updates on our new products. On an average, we dispatch around 25 to 30 Parcels, and offline we do sell around 50 to 60 products each day. Also, we are in tie up with major beauty salons in our area as well as in other cities like Jaipur, Kota, Mumbai, Indore, Surat, Delhi, Bangalore, Nagpur, etc. so that they can also promote our products and its working well so far.

Till now as an entrepreneur, what was your remarkable moment..?

Making it my Profession itself was a notable moment. We do have a lot of clients overseas but, I remember a feedback from our loyal client who is from Spain, she loved our products so much that she has recommended it to all her friends who now keep on ordering them now and then and never misses to visit us whenever she is in India. The way she appreciated our products was heartwarming and such positive feedback from clients has helped us to work harder and that’s how we have achieved success in our venture in past 4 years.
showcasing to mayor event eldee cosmetics

Srashti..! What’s your favorite cosmetic product that you carry in your bag? And, you would love to recommend to every girl out there.

Well, I have an extensive list of my favorites, and I have been using them on a daily basis since years. So after shortlisting I came up with three products which by the way are our bestsellers:

Eldee Body Shimmer which keeps my skin moisturized with its wheat germ, aloe and soybean extracts providing a luminous glow all day long and

Gold continuous Lip Stick is one of my favorite which has beeswax and makes me skip my lip balm routine.

Another product which I swear by is Eldee 36 hour lasting waterproof eyeliner whose name itself explains it all.

These are one of a type and the unique products so wherever I go people frequently ask me about these which again motivates me to keep my spirit on.
body shimmer eldee cosmetics

What you find more interesting in your spare time when you are not doing business activities?

I can happily spend hours watching professionals using colorful makeup products online; makeup is kind of art to me that’s what I love the most. I also love visiting new places and trying on cuisines. I do spend time with my friends and family especially mom; I love watching Hollywood movies with her, and Yeah..!! She is the first one who gives me a genuine review about my products, it improves my skill and experience too.

What’s your favorite destination in your hometown?

I love spending time at Lakeside or a place with a scenic view more than spending hours in a Mall. Place serving yummy food is my favorite. Be it anywhere.

If you won’t have been in online selling industry then what you would have preferred to do?

I can’t think of doing anything else then what I am doing right now. I have always believed in “doing what you love and loving what you do”. This has always been my mantra. I am a believer. That is what my wrist tattoo says. It has been a tremendous journey, and I have loved each and every moment of it up till now, and we have initiated few more ways to follow our dreams.

What are your plans in aspect to your outlet Eldee Cosmetics? Are you thinking to expand it even more in future?

Yes we are reconstructing our ways to online retail, and we have planned it so well so by 2018 we will launch Eldee Stores in the main cities of Rajasthan.

[Intro Entrepreneurs] Rashmi Khathuria – StyleCourt

rashmi khaturia udaipur

Share a bit about You.

I was born and brought up in Udaipur. I have done Graduation (BBA & B.Ed). Previously I was a high school teacher in Lilavatibai Podar Mumbai but presently I am the owner of StyleCourt Udaipur.

Since my early teens like most of the other girls, I had an immense love for clothes. Clothes that are not just clothes but fashionable clothes. I never used to shop from Udaipur; it was always from markets and malls of Delhi. Every time my father used to go for meetings and business trips, my list of different types of dresses would be ready!

Share us some details about StyleCourt.

StyleCourt is a trend driven online pre-order women’s western wear store. StyleCourt focuses more on the latest trends in fashion. We do have accessories as a part of our store in which mainly neckpieces, earrings, bags and goggles are there. StyleCourt gets you the latest fashion styles at your doorstep. You need not to crib anymore about your city Udaipur being backward in fashion.

All latest styles; be it in maxi dresses, jumpsuits, skirts, crop tops, culottes pants, rompers, skater dresses, midi dresses, bodycon dresses, blazers, shirts, off shoulder dresses etc. are there. It takes minimum of 8-10 days for delivery of the product. As it’s a pre-order service, so after getting the payment the order is confirmed. COD is available for Udaipur. We do keep stock in hand but that’s just 5%, rest 95% is sold via Instagram, FaceBook and on Whatsapp.

Style Court Udaipur

How did you start your venture? What motivates you to continue?

After shifting from Mumbai to Udaipur, the only cause of concern for me was from where I’ll buy clothes from. Might sound stupid to some but it’s the major cause of worry for most of the girls who are up-to-date with fashion in Udaipur. We do have options of many websites but then I’m quite dubious about the quality and most importantly latest fashion wear. This one thought sparked an idea about StyleCourt. I thought of why not to start something of my own. I was sick of hearing from my Udaipur friends that “yaha kuch latest nahi milta yaar.. jo bombay delhi me aaj fashion hai vo ek saal yaa six months baad yaha aata hai..!!!” So why not bring down this cribbing for fashion. My friends and many other people are at ease because they love the dresses.

I always wanted to do something by my own and this keeps me motivated. Of course I did teaching job in Mumbai’s best school PODAR but there had to be something of mine solely. The major motivation comes from clothes. The love for clothes is the motivation and when I hear people saying that they love the dress received from my venture or “I can only think of your store for shopping in Udaipur” it just makes my day. We do have clients of other cities like Jaipur, Mumbai, Pune, Solapur, Nagpur, Delhi, Sikar, Ahmedabad, Tibet, Chandigarh, Chittor, Surat as the main business runs via Social Media Sites.

Style Court by Rashmi Khaturia

How do you define Trend?

Trend for me means the acceptance for something new. A new style that is introduced by fashion world and celebrities around the world. A trend is what starts from celebs and gets carried forward by common people. Trends are not steady they keep changing. The life itself is all about growth and change.

Being a woman, is there any instance where you faced some problem? How did you get over it?

Problems/shortcomings are there in every business, for all be it a man or a woman. Being an independent girl since beginning, I didn’t face as such problems in our city Udaipur. I’ve lived alone in Mumbai doing a job, earned money, paid my bills/rent/expenses, explored markets and made a living by myself so I’m quite adapted to do things on my own. As such there are no problems.
And even if I face some issues, I try to give my best to solve the troubles. If not, then my younger brother Dheeraj khathuria is the savior. He never lets his sister down or disappointed as he has practical approach and solutions to all my woes.

What do you like most about StyleCourt?

Woah! Well EVERYTHING! I love my work. And being a girl, I have a huge space for clothes and fashion accessories in my heart and wardrobe as well. Ok so the best part is that StyleCourt is something which I owe proudly. The best part is I am at ease about latest trends in Udaipur. People who are aware of trends and styles are happily buying products from us. We have a very happy client base.

Rashmi Khaturia in Udaipur

What makes StyleCourt different from others?

You get all latest styles which itself makes it different. The difference is that we make our clients feel special by providing them with one on one personal conversation. They can sit home and see the products, they can inquire about products and the friendliest part is we ask our clients what they require or what kind of dress they’re looking for. They send us pictures and we try to arrange similar or next to similar products.

How do you reset yourself to be creative? Are there any specific rituals?

No rituals we have as such. It’s all about posting pictures with latest styles. There are many fashion magazines which keep me updated about the world of fashion. The best ones to name are Cosmopolitan, Harpar Bazaar, Femina and Elle.

products by stylecourt

What is the best way to create an infectious Product?

I work on a philosophy of “jo dikhta hai, vo bikta hai“! It might sound cliché, but yes it’s the fact. Post a picture and tell people that it’s the Hot selling product. There are many TV personalities and Celebrities wearing similar stuff. We show people how to get inspired by celebrity Styles and most importantly wear it yourself, style it in their own way or style your friends, people say everything looks good on celebrities but when a non-eminent personality wears/carries that product with grace and style people tend to buy such products.

Style Court

Where do you see yourself after 10 years?

After 10 years, I would like to see myself as Director of StyleCourt group which will be having as many as stores in India and overseas like that of Forever21. The stores shall have products related to fashion & lifestyle.

rashmi udaipur

What are your most important hobbies?

Well! Let’s talk about the current most important hobby. It’s stalking about latest trends, from international/national magazines to celebrity’s personal stylists and blogs about the designers in the fashion world. Apart from that, I like reading. I am a huge fan of Abraham Esther and Jerry Hicks books. Their books are based on spirituality; so yeah I like to read them.

What piece of advice would you like to give to someone who is thinking to start their own venture? How do you encourage them to take plunge?

One simple mantra I would like to give. “Believe in yourself” and that’s the key. If your heart says it, then do it. I would like to encourage them by saying that it’s your life and hence your choice. People will say what they think but it’s important that what u think. Go ahead, start it and don’t worry about failures. To relish the taste of success, you first need to know what failure is. And remember that risks are part of business.

How can someone browse StyleCourt’s Collection?

For people seeking StyleCourt’s Collection and Products, They can easily connect us through the Social Media Profiles.

We do have some selective products available at our store:

[Intro Entrepreneurs] Vinish & Shubh – Chaifeteria

Chai & Wi-Fi

It’s always special to interview your friends. You have seen it all; when they had no ideas, when they had the raw ideas, when they were struggling, when they become entrepreneurs and finally when they got famous and successful. I had known Shubh since school days, but I was meeting Vinish for the first time.

The interview started up with a cup of Masala Chai whose exotic taste made me more attracted towards Chaifeteria. While we all were sharing giggles, they both said that they were not going to answer stereotype interview questions like who and what their inspiration was. Both of them are enough self admiring and hence their own lives were quite inspiring to them. While Vinish started jotting down answers for the questionnaire I had made, me and Shubh had a quick chat about our current lives.

The real conversation started while I was sitting and these both were preparing different orders for their customers. I was astonished by the amount of focus they were putting in everything. What kept me smiling all time along I was at Chaifeteria was the fact that their multitasking skills were incredible. They were meeting everyone pleasantly, made every order in the best possible way, paid total attention to my interrogation and answered them with full zeal and also offered me something or the other to eat from time to time. The best thing I ate was Ferrero Rocher chocolate fudge.

Now let me put down the amiable and amusing conversation among all three of us to this UdaipurBlog. Answers by Vinish will be mentioned first as he is the founder of this venture which ultimately means Shubh is the co-founder. And whatever I will add will be in Italics 😉

I sitting on the Red three legged stool asked:

HOW DID YOU COME UP WITH THE IDEA OF CHAIFETARIA.

Vinish: Shubh had the experience of handling food joints in local market as he already had handled Café Anarki, Just 4 U, Café Alchemy. 8 months back I went to him with the idea of putting up a kiosk with a new concept. The notion of innumerable flavors of tea with attached Wifi seemed quite fetching to Shubh. So we planned to give this a shot.

Shubh: I was quite influenced by Vinish’s idea. As I already had worked in Banyan Root’s kitchen, I knew I could handle the kitchenette part of this venture too. With experience had known that businesses had risk, but they were worth it.

So this shiny thing is worth the price.

YOUR CHAIFETERIA HAS BEEN GIVEN WARM ACCEPTANCE AND IT HAS BEEN RECOGNIZED LOCALLY.  TELL ME, HOW IT FEELS TO BE POPULAR?

Vinish: I want my work to be praised and accepted more than myself. I like fame in this way. I won’t care if people would say that they do not like me, but it would matter allot if they will not appreciate my activities towards this venture.

On the hand, Shubh completely is in head over heels love with this fame. He cherishes it when he does not need an introduction and most of the Udaipurites already know him. His major asset for his popularity has been his upcoming book “SHE-THE NOOR OF MY EYES”.

But both agree that adoration and approval of the customers and this city is the major prize which they have received.

Chaifeteria Udaipur

WHAT ARE YOUR SECRETS TO KEEPING CUSTOMERS COMING IN? WHAT HAVE BEEN YOUR MOST SUCCESSFUL PROMOTIONS?

Vinish: The secret is the innovative idea of making WiFi available at a Kiosk. Also the keen observation I have had due to my hobby of travelling helped me a lot. I almost know that what ideas will be sellable and what will be not.

Shubh: Media has had been a great help for our enterprise and its promotion. Big thanks to Dainik Bhaskar, Zee Marudara, Etv Rajasthan and Topyaps.com for covering our story. And Nida, Thanks to UdaipurBlog too now that you people are covering up Chaifetaria!

*Winks*

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE EACH OTHER AS A PARTNER?

Vinish:  We are childhood friends. We have had matching ideologies since forever. I had never believed in the concept of conventional education and stereotype professions. So when I saw Shubh following his heart and pursuing a career in writing and restaurant businesses, it gave me a push. I always knew that we are so likeminded that working with him will never be difficult.

Shubh: My cafes were going great. But I always had a great desire to create a brand in India. When a friend comes up with such an innovative proposal which has never been in this country before, we know that the desire is close enough to come true.

TELL US ABOUT YOUR EDUCATION PLANS AND ACTUAL CAREER GOALS IN LIFE?

Vinish: I am a 2nd Year B.Com dropout. I love wrestling and travelling. I have never believed in the concept of education but have always wanted to be someone who could learn things out of real life experiences. I also travelled from Udaipur to Shimla via Gujarat in 21 days without any money for the same purpose.

I want to make travelling, meeting new people and exploring life my career.

You see, Journey for some people, is destination

Shubh: Right now I am totally satisfied with what I am doing. I have completed my bachelors in English and now after completing MA English, I would like to do my PhD. The fixed plan is to get retired at the age of 30.

Ignoring the rush hour of this world, Shubh wants to taste the life.

WHY DO YOU THINK THAT YOUR VENTURE IS GETTING MUCH MORE POPULAR THAN THE OTHER SAME SIZED FAST FOOD JOINTS?

Vinish: Of course because of my Wi-Fi idea.  *Shubh & Vinish share smiles*. Moreover, the kind of hygiene we maintain is nearly impossible to be found at a kiosk in this city. People won’t see a contaminated person serving at our place or any unpleasant host. Me and My co-founder make everything ourselves and greet everyone with hospitality.

Being nice to customers or to anyone is not difficult at all, but still this is one rare thing in the universe.

Shubh: I totally agree to my founder 😉 but also I think because the kind of tea flavors you get over here are scarce. This makes us distinguished. There is almost something for each individual coming. We have best alternatives for traditional breakfast. Corn Flakes, different kinds of bun sandwiches, multiple flavored beverages and a lot of different items which are basic but essential are made available in minutes.

chaifeteria udaipur

ANY FURTHER ENHANCEMENT OR ADDITIONS YOU BOTH ARE PLANNING TO MAKE IN CHAIFETARIA?

Vinish: Yess! Seeing the embracing welcome, we are planning to open up 2nd outlet in the city soon. We really want to make good quality and economic fast food and beverages available to the city, especially youth.

Shubh: I believe if you provide a good service and place then the people are going to like it always. So now we will also come up with an entire new menu additional to the present one for summers.

It looks like this summer is going to bring up new sugars & spices.

HOW YOU THINK GETTING STARTED WITH THIS VENTURE DIFFICULT?

Vinish: Convincing people about this idea was a tedious task. But later when this idea came into existence, we witnessed some customers who were very critical about the fact that we being educated were still working on kiosk.

People want to kill you, kiss you or be you!

Shubh: I love kitchen and cooking, so regarding this, things were quite cool. But finding the right location, getting its possession and majorly getting man power was difficult. But I think me and Vinish were enough to handle all this with obviously support of our friends.

But the worst part is, all the pretty girls call you Bhaiyya over here 😉

customers at chaifeteria

LASTLY, TELL ME ABOUT YOUR FAVORITE FEATURES OF CHAIFETERIA. ALSO MENTION YOUR FAVORITE DELICACIES?

Vinish: I am very particular about sterility. This is what is offered here which I am very fond of. And tea or caffeine and Wi-Fi are the need of the hour, which are very nicely served by us. Idea of serving basic requirements convinces me.

My favorites are Hari-Mirch chai, Irani chai and nutella bun.

Shubh: I love this completely because we are the only local joint which is also a merchandised line. You can buy packs of Green tea leaves, Chocolate tea leaves, Black tea homemade Chai Masala, Banana chips, Potato chips and Chocolate chips here.

My dearests are Chocolate Chai and Maggi bun.

WHAT IS THE BEST PART OF BEING INTO THIS VENTURE?

Vinish: One of the main reasons I dote over tours is that because they make me meet so many new people. We learn new ideas, how each individual is different from another, how people get along, how they get against; these things always held me curiosity.

I knew this venture will make me meet so many new people each day that this will never get boring.

Shubh: Cooking As I said previously, I am fond of making eatables and writing. Chafetaria has given me a daily opportunity to cook, which I completely enjoy. Also meeting new people, recognizing them, exchanging experiences and views, gives me a broader perspective towards life and world for my writing.

Udaipurites, Do visit this place. Trust me; it’s something which you have never ever seen before in this city. Experience it! Live It! Love It!

Location: Near Happinezz Parlour, Sukhadia Circle

[Intro Entrepreneurs] Bhupesh Kavadia – Bougain Villaea

“Shivling is the purest form of abstract symbolic sculpture where ling and yoni are both depicted in the most powerful way.”

“Words become lyrical when rhymed in the right way,

Stones become marvels when carved in the right shape,

Moulded by the imagination of mind,

And love of the heart,

Art will keep on,

Taking our breath away.”

We are rock people. We have lived in them, we have fought with them, hail we have made everything around them. From the wheel that made possible all the innovations to come alive to the spaceships which set our imagination ablaze by their possibilities. But the most interesting thing about all these innovations is that they were sparked by a single person’s imagination but are realized by the hard work of billions throughout the human evolution.

Before the beginning of any innovation there is a dream.

A dream that has the power to drive us years over years, miles over miles to schools, to work, to countries and beyond. No one could ever say what amount of hard work one needs to put in before realizing dreams but one thing is for sure if we are persistent than our dreams will definitely become a reality one day.

Such is the story of Mr. Bhupesh Kavadia.

Bhupesh Kavadia - Bougain Villaea

Born and raised in Udaipur, he sat out to make his career in a field which was once considered taboo.

Can you think what it could be?

Well while you’re thinking let me give a brief walk around the place we took our interview.

It was around 11:30 a.m. in January, Sun was shining brightly and sunlight was coming through window into what we think was study. A beautiful shelf filled with books and art pieces was in front of us. It was one of those settings which every person want to in his life. Open and spacious, the study also had an aquarium. A really big one and with the sound of water flowing, the ambience was just calming.

Have you guessed what he do?  Let’s find out if your guess correct or not. ☺

Bougain Villaea Udaipur

Sir, please tell us your story?

“My father was a teacher. I did my schooling from St. Pauls. During school days, I got involved with theatres. We had a small group called “Triveni Kala Sangam”. It comprised of many senior people and others having a passion for art like me. My attachment for art began with this group. Our seniors in the group were mostly doctors, engineers and they were able to give time to the theatres in the evening hours. So, from that point of time only, my grooming as an artist had nicely begun with an opportunity to work with such people in a creative environment.

Theatre was a team work. We had to clean the set, bring tea, design stage and of course act. There were so many things we had to do and this made the environment more creative and lively. Then, with the introduction of TV, the theatre audience started to reduce and gradually theatres became a thing of past. It was a huge setback for all of us.

During this period, fortuitously I met some senior sculptors who were working in Udaipur. When I saw their work, driven by the thought of doing something like it, I also tried my hands in sculpturing. In the beginning it was just a curiosity whether I can do it or not. All I had thought was to make a little sculpture of my own and put it in my mantelpiece.

But this curiosity of mine was unconsciously turning into a passion for the art. I started to visit the place on a daily basis. Initially, it was for few hours a day, then it turned into half days and finally a full time process. By then it had become a serious affair and with the support of the whole art community my confidence also began to develop.”

Bhupesh ji might be humble about his success and a down to earth person but we knew what this man was capable of as soon as we entered his gallery “Bougain Villaea”.

Here’s a fun fact: Most of us have already seen the front of his gallery.

A big white elephant sculpture standing in front of a square arched entrance way.

Bougain Villaea Gallery Udaipur

Can you remember the place? (Hint: It’s on Rani road’s beginning)

As we walked past that elephant on the cobbled path, we were impressed by the beautiful sculptures that watched us till we reached the end only to witness a surreal experience.

Big, small, shining, dull, captivating, pondering, the entire place was full of beautiful and vivid sculptures, paintings and other art works.

The experience we had there was unexplainable. It was like going back into the childhood where you were free to interpret things the way you wanted to, where you’d let your imagination go free. We started doing that only and every time we hit on the meaning of a sculpture, a painting and any other art displayed there we were fired by a new one.

That’s the beauty of art.

Art sets you free but to be an artist in our society comes at a price. Let us hear from Bhupesh ji about how his family reacted when they found out about his new passion!

Tell us what happened when your family found out that sculpturing has become a serious affair for you?

“They were okay with it till it was a hobby but as soon as it became a serious thing they began to worry. Therefore, I started to find jobs accordingly so that my family does not have to worry about my career. But for me, career orientation was completely lost at that time. Sculpting had become a passion for me.

During that time, while I was searching for a job, I got a chance to join a private businessman as a supervisor for his Traditional Sculpture Department. In this way I tried to stay as close to stones as possible. Before joining the job, I placed my terms in front of him that I would work with the stones after 5 in the evening. All my work would remain his property but the creative independence will be mine. He very generously agreed to it and he was very happy with his decision after seeing my work.

As time passed, my work started getting recognition. My hard work started paying off and finally I bagged a wonderful opportunity of receiving the highest state award for the same.

When I shared it with my parents, my father said, “Isse zindagi nahi chalegi tumhari”, because at that time it was an amount of just Rs. 5000 (which wasn’t enough for a livelihood) and a certificate. For some time, it was still a shock for him that his boy was going out for carving stones. Sculpting didn’t have a serious definition then.

Gradually, we started joining exhibitions in Delhi and Bombay. Luckily some renowned art collectors liked my work and the patronage they gave encouraged us a lot. Eventually, on an individual level, monetary gain also started which helped me become more confident.

Finally, I left job and replaced this hobby as full time work. As I received more and more recognition and awards for my work such as Indian National Award etc., my family also started supporting me. My biggest support all this way came from my wife.”

(With smiles beaming on our face)

Isn’t it glad to know that people who care about you sooner or later joins you on the way of your dreams. And when you are mature enough you began to understand that the only reason they stop you from doing something is because they are concerned for you which make you love them even more.

Bhupesh Kavadia

But why choose Udaipur for an art gallery and for work?

We all know how much negligent we are about art in Udaipur. Being locals we are the ones whose support is still the least for the art community. So we became more curious as to why he chose to stay in Udaipur even after getting so much recognition internationally. His answer also shed light on the beginning and purpose of starting the “Bougain Villaea Gallery”.

(In his words)

“Baroda University ke ek senior professor the. Hum ek symposium me sath me the. Unka yeh kehna tha ki ladke tu ye sheher chaudkar kahin bahar chala ja. Like Bombay or Delhi. Kyunki tera ye sheher sheher nahi gaav he and yahan par tujhe koi projection nahi rahega.”

(Translation: I had a chance to meet a senior professor of Baroda University at a symposium. He said to me that you should leave this city and go to big cities like Delhi or Bombay because your city is not a city but a village and here you won’t find any projection.)

“His answer made me to think that why can’t I do something here in Udaipur. I took this as a challenge and started a studio where few people including me worked together.”

“Then we started our first art gallery on a small place. We received commendable support from art community and other people. Udaipur being a tourist destination added as icing on the cake creating more exposure for our gallery. This lead to the beginning of the growth of our gallery, which slowly seeded from a small shop to a big showroom. People now knew that the levels of work that they see in New York, London is also available in Udaipur.”

“Then we had our own publication, a coffee table book just to authenticate ourselves.”

International footfall! Why is the local footfall is so less in these galleries?

Anyways moving forward, we went through some books. And seriously, we never could have imagined that art work of such a splendid level would ever have been possible in Udaipur. I know, our beloved city is already world famed for miniature arts but once you go through this stuff, this in house publication, you would realise that we have a much wider gamut of talent then we know.

Bougain Villaea Gallery proudly shows this gamut of talent under one roof. Spread over two floors is artwork from more than 30 different artists of varying age groups and styles. The amalgamation of art here was indistinguishable.

We both agreed to this fact after we saw these pictures again. By the way you must have been thinking from long as to who are WE here!!

I am Nirbhay, currently narrating you the interview in my words and my friend Siddharth Nagar.

One of his questions took us back to the days when Bhupesh Ji was connected to the theatres.

Sir! You’re attached to theatre. Theatre people are generally seen to do their work more with feelings and seriousness. So are your theatre feelings and art feelings connected?

“Obviously! Not only mine (for the reason I was attached to theatre), but for all those who are artists (any field), if they are not doing it with their soul then they are not doing an artwork.

It may be that you are technically good but until and unless you put your soul in that work it will be considered dead only. It may become commercially successful but you will never be satisfied. It would never make you happy like ‘yaar maza aa gaya isko karne me’. “

Well said!

Bhupesh ji really puts up a complex thing in the simplest way possible and makes us want to explore even more of his perspectives and thoughts.

Sir, most of us have a passion for something but we do not have enough skills for it and under certain circumstances we literally give up on it. So do you think one should give up his passion if she/he does not possess good technical skills?

“If there is passion then you don’t need to have skills in advance. No matter how you’re doodling or sketching, it doesn’t matter. It is your passion and firstly it is for you. For example, suppose I am seeing a tree and I want to draw it but I don’t know sketching even then I can draw it in my way. I don’t have to follow a pattern as doing so would become a copy and there would not be any ideas of mine.

It’s like the children do. When you give them a piece of paper to draw, they draw according to their own will. And everything they draw is their own imagination. But the only point here is that their teacher does not teach them how a tree, a hill etc. should be drawn. A teacher should always want from his/her students to develop their own ideas and bring an essence of their imagination in anything they draw.

We should not bring too much academics in our passion because then we become more prejudiced. We will then start to follow the set of rules given in academics and then the art won’t be ours.

It is a very personal thing about how we perceive things and our expressions should be based on our perception unbiased.”

Perception. It’s a small word that can be seen causing chaos since our beginning.

Sir, like you said that artists draw from their imagination. So, how often it happens that people perceives your work the way you did when you made it?

“Ummm! Many a times it does not happen because a viewer’s mind-set and a creator’s mind-set (at the time of creating) are usually different. It is merely a chance of probability that a viewer perceives this art as the creators’ when he created it.

But artwork gives you a freedom of perception. Suppose if what artist created is a very personal thing then when a viewer sees it, he/she has the freedom of perceiving it in his/her own way.”

The Perception Battle (as I like to call it) might have happened with you too at some point of time. Whatever result it has led to, the most important thing is that we should not let others diffuse our perception and neither should we try to diffuse theirs.

And to all the teachers, maybe your perception of literature, art may clash with your students. It is my humble request to you that don’t let their perception get diffused with the ones suitable to be written in examinations. ☺

With these words it’s obvious what our next question is going to be.

Sir, what are your views for our education system?

“Our educational system requires a complete revival because it has just become a manufacturing system. It has turned into a factory, we put students there, give them a degree and that’s it. Students’ real grooming, real personality development are widely forgotten in this process.

To make students good human beings, putting good values in them should be very important. Our education system does not justify many things. It just says this thing has happened, so remember it and move on.”

Do you agree?

The BV Gallery features a variety of stone sculptures along with other forms of visual art and since Bhupesh Ji has a sculpturing background, let us hear from him about the art form in a little detail.

Tell us something about your work?

“Well, every art form is equally adorable but personally I love to work with stones. Granite, Marble, Sandstone etc. and sometimes I even add steel to the stone but yeah you can say my medium for expression is basically stones only.”

From a block of stone to a sculpture!! How does it happen? Where do you begin from?

“First part of the process is thought process. In it when you first see the stone you’re going to work on, you don’t think about carving it. You try to understand it. Sometimes the stone tells you how you should begin. It gives you an intuitive point to start your work from. Sometimes you don’t know what you’re going to do while sometimes you may choose the material and start if you already know what you’re going to build.”

With so much variety of stones, does the requirement of technical skills, tools vary?

“Yes, both techniques and tools vary. And along with them, positioning of the stones, arrangement of grains, layers are also important. For instance, if you are working on a sedimentary rock then you have to be careful that you don’t strike in its layers so as to avoid it being damaged. Tools too vary and they depend on the stones you are working with.”

Your knowledge is very impressive. Did it evolved over years of working or you learnt it from somewhere?

“This could be achieved only with time by working continuously, reading and learning from accidents. By doing wrong things, technique wise, like damaging a stone by using a wrong technique and by understanding the reason why did it happen.”

Sir, according to you, which has been your best work up till now?

“It’s a difficult question. It is like asking a mother, which one is her favourite child.”

(With laughs)

Okay, so any work that has challenged you creatively?

“Well if you see on Rani Road, there is a big sculpture placed their titled “Windows to Nature”. It was part of a one month symposium which I was conveying. It was a huge responsibility because we invited 16 Big sculptors from all over the world and I was managing each and everything. And in all that business, I was unable to complete my own sculpture.

Luckily, I was able to get an extension of 10 days and I took two blocks which no other artist had chosen and an idea clicked in my mind and I completed this huge work within 3 days.”

Windows to Nature

I bet all of us will be having our own moments with this piece of art.  ☺

Sir, as an internationally recognized sculptor, what effects fame had(ve) on your life and work?

“Till now due to all the patronization and encouragement that I have received I have become more motivated to prove by my artwork. Now when I have everything else my struggle starts with my work only. I have become more confident, more self-criticizing.”

Sir, along with you there are other people also working in the gallery. So, are there any opinion differences that occur between the artists?

“Here as such there is no agenda of working together so each artist is working on their own and hence, the chances of disputes are greatly minimized. And, when we sit together and discuss our views on universal things then they are more of discussions and understanding of each other’s views.”

“So, here, every discussion is taken in a positive way mostly” added Siddharth. (smile)

“Yes! Absolutely!!” (smiled back)

Our time in the gallery was flowing like a breeze. Both of us were enjoying the conversation and popping out questions but unfortunately not all of the questions could make their way into this article but ek last question toh banta he. ☺

What are your plans for coming years?

“We have set up a studio near Thur Ki Paal. It is full of natural landscape and beauty. We are currently planning to build artist residencies there so that artists from all over the world can come and work here.

Also, if someone is interested in learning the sculpturing art then they could also volunteer. There would not be any professional teaching but I would indeed share my experiences with them.”

Bougain Villaea is a beautiful piece of work in our city or one can say it is a collage of the talent and the art, our communities should possess.

I am still surprised, how such a beautiful place still remains hidden from our sight. Maybe, it is because of lack of concern for our own talents or of the way we perceive things.

Whatever the reason may be, I would say, if you live in Udaipur then you must visit the “Bougain Villaea Gallery” before visiting any other gallery in other cities. The standards that this gallery has set are world class.

We will always cherish the sparkling conversation we had with Mr. Bhupesh Kavadia. Sir, we salute you for the work you did not only for our city but also for our country. We hope to see you soon in future achieving great heights with your work.

Leaving you with a glimpse of what Bougain Villaea has to offer. We bid you adieu. Hope your journey there be a bliss.

Kudos!

Priyansh Paliwal – Singer | Talent of Udaipur

Udaipur, we are happy to announce our new series which will be featuring various Talents of Udaipur. On that note we start with Young Talent from Udaipur – Priyansh Paliwal – Singer.

Cover of a song recently uploaded on YouTube grabbed attention of many music enthusiasts. The amazing singer from Udaipur requested Big B to watch the cover and surprisingly the life time achiever, the evergreen Bollywood celebrity Mr. Amitabh Bachchan not only watched the video but in addition praised the boy and shared the video on his official Facebook and Twitter accounts. A lost and unknown name turned into a celebrity overnight. Who was this glittering star of tomorrow and how did he succeed to amaze the Bollywood celeb like Amit Ji.

For others he would have been an anonymous but, for Udaipurites he is a famed personality and almost all aspiring singers adores him a lot. Priyansh Paliwal, twenty two years old young blood hailing from Udaipur is a commerce graduate and masters in journalism & mass communication is an avid singer and he is one of the founder members of the famous band of Udaipur – Rooh. Priyansh unveiled many secrets of his personal and professional life in a recent interview carried by one of our UB correspondent & author Mr. Ashwini Bagga. The glimpse of the interaction revealed his journey of becoming a professional singer and his success mantra.

priyansh paliwal udaipur

Where did it all start?

It all started right from my childhood when I was in second standard. I bow to my guru, my only inspiration, Late. Mr. C.M. Makhan. He had been my music mentor in my entire school life and he had always been with me. And more interestingly, really speaking I have never learned music like being his regular student. In those times I used to watch him very enthusiastically playing different instruments. Later in his absence I practice them in free hours and many a times I by bunking my regular classes at school. While after the formation of Rooh Band, Mr. Ashok Gandharva guided me to improve my singing and Live performing skills.

 Priyansh Paliwal in school

And how long you followed his teachings in succession?

I had covered a very long journey and that continued till I was in class tenth. By the time I had started playing various music instruments like harmonium, tabla and congo etc. I had been an active participant in various cultural activities being organized at our school. I must say that music had always been in my blood. I might survive past starving  but I can’t live without music.

When did the thought of becoming a singer beckoned your conscience?

People might have a perception that I am a born singer, because music had always been too close to me. But, to be honest, let me tell you that this is not the case actually. I had never imagined myself to be a singer. I have undergone with lots of ups and downs in my life. When I passed out my school, I got more inclined towards choreography. After being into it for two years I lose interest in choreography and then I penetrated into the entertainment industry. I joined Big FM as an Intern as I wanted to become Radio Jockey and later my quest finally landed me onto the platform of singing.

Priyansh Paliwal performing Live

Can you elaborate your journey of Priyansh Paliwal as a singer?

After quitting Choreography, Radio Jockeying and much different stuff that I had tried, I felt being at home when I started performing on stage as a singer. Later on I had never looked back. I have performed around five hundred live shows and seen places. After my eternal destiny took a turn when I formed Rooh Band with my fellow colleagues and that I assume that every Udaipurite is well aware of.

What is your favorite genre and liking about the present music and trend?

Usually I prefer singing current romantic Bollywood numbers. And from past few months I have been releasing covers of new songs that have lot of music transformations. My latest release is cover of Chunar from ABCD 2.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JN9D4OkNw_U

What is your biggest achievement till date?

I count the cover of Bezubaan from the film Piku as one of my greatest achievements. After uploading the cover I had requested Shri Amitabh Bachchan Ji to watch the video. Although I was not sure that he would but, he watched it and shared it on his social profiles within next fifteen minutes. I am very grateful to receive such a humble response from one of the legendary Bollywood celebrity. Thereafter I received applauds from round the corners. I had been interviewed by various print and electronic media after the incident.

Priyansh admired by Amitabh Bachan

Who is your ideal?

None other than Arijit Singh he is my favorite. His name resides in the hearts of every aspiring singer these days.

Where do you see yourself after five years?

Probably as a Bollywood playback singer in settled Mumbai.

Priyansh wall

How do you come up with these Bollywood covers?

First of all I select a song rather I must say a latest Bollywood number. In step two I workout various transformations that are required to modify the original music of the song. In next step I go for music arrangement and production that done in sound recording studio. After producing the final audio, I produce and edit its video. It takes almost fifteen to twenty days to complete the cycle, right from perceiving to production.

Who else are there in your production team? Or you do everything of your own?

No, I am not alone. Music arrangement and production is taken care by Mr. Samarth Janve. Being a Good Classical, He also guides me while recording. While Video Production is looked after by my friends and at times I also try my hands on video editing.

How do you manage the financial aspects of audio video production?

I manage all the financial aspects of production. Of course there is a huge production cost that is involved in the production. If you can die for your passion then certainly you will find ways to live with your passion.

Do your parents support you in these activities?

Initially, I faced a lot of resistance regarding my passion for singing. My parents had always been insisting on studies but I always preferred moving in reverse gear. Instead giving my full time to studies I gave it to music and rest of the time I pitied on my studies. My siblings did vice versa, they took only academics on the top priority.

Priyansh Paliwal

Do you wish to convey some guidelines for the aspiring singers? What a wannabe singer must do to succeed.

As I had mentioned earlier that I have not undergone any professional training for singing or playing any instrument. Rather, I was an avid chaser and I have learnt singing by following others. It might seem others as child’s play but it is not. Regular practice is the only key which can take you places and there is no shortcut to success. Those who believe in instant success and wish to gain without pain; they can never go a long way. Precision is obtained through consistency only and for consistency hard work is the prime ingredient.

One thing I would like to add at the end that people have started perceiving that anybody can sing and become a singer. They have a misconception that even someone’s voice is not good he can beautify by recording it in a sound studio. I agree but, modulation and effects can help but to an extent. If someone wants to be a singer then he must have guts to perform in public.

[Intro Entrepreneurs] Prateek Parihar – Hotel Panna Vilas

As the weather turned from a warm day to a rainy day, I had a feeling that this interview was going to be a special one because I was going to interview a Young Entrepreneur I have heard a lot about but knew nothing about. He was my age when he started his business and now he is an hotelier, a young and visionary businessman, a trend setter, a talented musician and a really nice human being.

Prateek Parihar started his hotel and restaurant business on his ancestor’s property near the Lake Fatehsagar at a very young age of 20 and went on to become a very well-known and successful person of Udaipur.

Prateek Parihar
Prateek Parihar

Let’s hear from him the story of his life and his endeavour.

Tell us about yourself and the story behind the beginning of Panna Vilas.

“I have done my schooling from the St. Pauls and under-graduation from HL College of Commerce. After graduation I came back to Udaipur as I needed a job experience of 1 year at least before pursuing MBA. During this time it came into my mind to turn my ancestor’s property into a hotel and restaurant business in which I had quite an interest. So I utilized all the money I was going to use for my MBA fees to set up the Hotel Panna Vilas Palace.”

Hotel Panna Vilas, Udaipur
Hotel Panna Vilas, Udaipur

You were very young when you started Panna Vilas, What did you had in your mind then? Any plans or strategy?

“I started Panna as a hotel with 6 rooms long before setting up the lounge & restaurant. I knew that it was going to be a place that I searched for in the city as a youngster myself.

From the beginning I was keen on pulling the youngsters to my Lounge & Restaurant. Initially I started with only 4 tables on the roof of the Panna Vilas and as the response of the people began to grew, we slowly diversified and came up with the lounge & restaurant. The response we got for the lounge & restaurant was very good. And then it just went on…”

Panna Vilas had done very well. Almost every person in Udaipur knows about it. It has become a name of quality. Did you expected such a positive response from the people when you started?

“No I did not expected such a positive response from the people. It was quite surprising and a sheer luck to be true. I believe if you provide a good service and place then the people are going to like it always.”

Panna Vilas Lounge & Restaurant has undoubtedly amassed big reputation in the public for its quality and ambience. It has always been able to surprise us with new concepts. Once again it is going to surprise us with its new deck restaurant “The Palanquin”

Palanquin Lounge and Restaurant

Palanquin Lounge and Restaurant

Palanquin celebrates the beauty of the Lake Fatehsagar and the heritage of Panna Vilas with its beautiful & eco-friendly construction and its air- conditioned interiors made of recyclable materials such as glass & wood and a deck restaurant which is first in its class in the city.

At Palanquin one can enjoy both the feel of the roof top via deck and an air conditioned dining with the startling view of the Fatehsagar.

Let us hear more from the man behind this idea.

When did you get the idea of the Palanquin and about the deck design?

“We used to get a lot of complaints regarding shishas (hukkah) from the concerning parents and when we learnt that they are going to be banned in Udaipur we started shifting our focus to restaurant and the hotel.

A deck is basically a wooden structure above the water level. We incorporated this concept in our design and started to build a deck restaurant and an air-conditioned restaurant below it. Since most of the roof tops can run only during evening the Palanquin offers a comfortable dining during day time too and a roof- top experience via its deck.

But since the construction was banned near the lake side so we came up with an alternative idea of making a structure which does not utilises cement, concrete and other usual construction materials.”

The Two level deck restaurant is built with eco-friendly materials.
The Two level deck restaurant is built with eco-friendly materials.

The new Panna Vilas will not only feature the Palanquin but also some new additions in future such as more rooms, a lake facing conference hall, an indoor swimming pool and a spa.

Panna Vilas is also introducing its own all night food delivery service very soon. This service will serve food delicious as home cooked food at affordable prices.

Prateek Parihar is a dynamic person who is full of life and energy. He is still young and has a long way to go but what matters the most in the business are the initial years. That struggle and hard-work you put into your ideas before they become reality. This thought made me curious to know more about his initial years.

How were the initial years of your entrepreneurship?

“To be true I didn’t struggle too much. I was specialised in finance which is a totally different field. So the success of the restaurant was a sheer luck. I was more focused on making place better and again I believe in making customer satisfaction a priority. I tried to make Panna Vilas the best in its field and its offerings be it the food or the rooms or the shisha.”

“We have also hired a professional chef to provide authentic Mexican food from Dubai.”

Authentic Mexican Dish

Panna has brought you a lot of fame. What do you have to say about that?

“You see restaurant and hotel industries are more of a glamour industries. Once your place is running well everyone begins to know you which in-turn builds a good PR.

I don’t think I’m famous. It’s just that people know me as a person who started a business in his twenties and it helps in building good relations. Udaipur is a small city and almost everyone knows each other so maintaining good relations is healthy.”

So is there any other family member involved with the business?

“Yes, My younger brother Siddhant Parihar has started overlooking the restaurant.”

What is the best part of being an hotelier and a restauranter?

“Umm…your life becomes easy. You have staff to work for you. It’s not like you get too much money from the restaurant business. ”

Talking about hotel and restaurant industry what are your advice to the upcoming entrepreneurs?

“My advice to them will be that come into this field after you have thoroughly decided. Firstly because you have to deal with human resources which is becoming rare to find and is getting more costly.

Secondly, never start restaurant as your primary business. If you want to set up a secondary business than enter this field because in the starting 3-4 years it is very difficult to survive in this field. Most people are also not aware about essential business terms like third party insurance, food license etc.

But if you want to come into this field then come with proper preparation. Restaurants is a glamorous industry whose best parts are that life becomes quite easy and your liquidity is well maintained.”

Every entrepreneur needs an inspiration at some point. Who or what was your inspiration?

“I wanted to build the restaurant of the calibre of Ambrai and hotel of the calibre of Ram Pratap Palace.

Other individual who inspired me the most was Fathegarh’s Joy Banna.. I met him during my schooling years through my father. He started off with HRH Group and went on to establishing a chain of hotels. I wanted to become like him. I still take advices and suggestions from him from time to time.”

You are a young person and must have witnessed the city with a unique perspective. How will you comment on the Udaipur’s growth and its potential for youngsters?

“I feel that Udaipur should not be developed. The development is destroying the natural beauty as well as disturbing ecological balance of Udaipur.

Apart from this the Udaipur’s expansion is going to decrease its tourism. Udaipur is no more a tourist destination according to me. It is becoming more of a wedding destination.”

I too agree with his views. The sudden growth of Udaipur is leading to quick loss of greenery and natural beauty. The unplanned expansion of city can be very stressful for its resources in future; on a serious note!

“…and considering for youngsters the city is going to take lot of time to develop for them. At least 10 years in my opinion. Our society is still not accepting the new trends easily.”

Indeed! We are far away from any developed city. I hope that in future this city becomes the best example of modernization amalgamated with culture beautifully.

Coming on to the last question of the interview. What are your future plans?

“I am currently pursuing degree in music from Trinity College, London. In future I’m planning to start a music academy focussing mainly on guitar.”

An entrepreneur in my views is a person with an idea and no knowledge about how big the idea is going to be. Since I have met many entrepreneurs during my interviews I have learnt a lot from them. However this interview has left a great impact on me and hope it leave such an impact on you too. Veiled behind the face of the business seeing these people doing the impossible is very inspiring. In fact I am writing this article for a brilliant mind, the founder of the UdaipurBlog, Sanjit Chohan.

Leaving the Panna Vilas with the lots of cherishable memories. Our team wished Prateek Parihar tremendous success in future. Visions he has for the city are definitely worth waiting for. Ending this beautiful interview I am going to leave you with the beautiful pictures of the Palanquin and the Panna Vilas Palace.

A Brief Interview with New Mayor of Udaipur – Mr. Chandra Singh Kothari

chandra singh kothari udaipur

Who would dare to judge that India’s ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has already reached its electoral tidemark? Its big victory in November, taking 49 of 55 seats for Udaipur Municipal Corporation surprised almost everyone. It was a tribute to a blistering campaign by Chandra Singh Kothari, now Mayor of Udaipur. But other trends helped too. For example, the never ending efforts of Mr. Gulab Chand Kataria, Home Minister for the state of Rajasthan and the Chankya of Udaipur’s Politics. If Mr. Modi and his party can rule well, their popular support could even rise further.

But the campaign was unprecedented, not least for the exorbitant sums spent by the BJP. This helped the Hindu nationalist party transform its fortune.

After all the discussions, the party came to a conclusion with a name Mr. Chandra Singh Kothari the first citizen of Udaipur cum the second mayor of the Government of Udaipur.

The team of UdaipurBlog.com got the opportunity for tête-à-tête with Mr. Mayor in his all new workroom.

Chandra Singh Ji Kothari’s stirring life journey to the Mayor of Udaipur Municipal Corporation began in the by-lanes of Lakhola, a small village, near Bhilwara district. He was born on March 27, 1957.

Mr. Chandra Singh Kothari’s life has been a journey of compassion and constant hard-work. At a very young age he decided to devote his life in the service of people. He displayed his skills as a grass root level worker, an organizer and an administrator. He started his political career in college by joining ABVP and was elected as the University president. He completed his graduation in Commerce and further pursued Law for higher studies.

After being the University President he took a halt of 11 years due to his personal responsibilities. Finally, he returned back to politics and from then he never looked back. He was the divisional convener for Bharitya Janta Party Yuva Morcha in 1989. Later he joined Bhartiya Mazdoor Sangh, and served with constant dedication for 22 years. His political career gained wings after he joined RSS. There came a shifting turn and he joined main stream politics and became the incharge of BJP for Udaipur Nagar Nigam in 2011.

From the people, for the people” the punch line of the mayor of Udaipur who believes in the thought “Action Speaks Louder than the words” and one can sense it by the hustle pestle in the city these days.

Whether this will change the city’s scenario cannot be decided yet but the vision on which he laid the road map of Udaipur is astounding in itself. He is aware of the system of corporation as he has worked closely with the former mayor of Udaipur, Mrs. Rajni Dangi.

While briefing his action plans he prioritized his list with

Flowing Ayad, Clean Ayad :-

Beautification of Ayad river has been an issue of great concern for him as well as the city . His discussion regarding its cleanliness project and revenue generation shows good indications for its future. “There is a discussion going on with Hindustan Zinc for setting up a water treatment plant too.” he added.

Elevated Roads :-

Another objective is to put in motion the projects for elevated roads. Planning is being done for building some of these in certain areas to solve the vulnerable issue of traffic.

Pollution :-

This is one of the biggest concerns for the deteriorating environmental conditions of our city. The pollution caused due to onus vehicular traffic is increasing year after year.

Efficient Public Transport :-

He also emphasized on efficient public transport and in this aspect he promised to start city buses soon and add more to the fleet for major areas on regular basis.

In the course of conversation on issues of blocked roads Mr. Mayor agreed with the same and told us that it has always been a great problem and mainly in old city areas where already roads are narrow and then the shops encroachment, parking problem makes the condition even worst.

He further mentioned, “Log Nigam ki Karwahi se nahi, Police se zyada datre hai” but since these problems arise repeatedly, he assured to bring in a better solution for the same.

Other problems of stray animals, littering and construction site encroachments were also discussed and brought into light.

Mr. Kothari fully supported the things and assured to resolve these problems but even remembered to mention that false promises could not be made at the cost of people’s trust and also as they don’t want to bear any sort of criticism from the media thereafter. His use of the phrase “Hawan karte rahe or hath be jalate rahe” explained this situation well enough. 😀

When asked about transgression of illegal constructions in Udaipur, the Mayor told “We have taken proper measures for this and our first approach would be eyeing under construction buildings and later on towards shops and buildings without having proper parking facilities.”

In Mr. Chandra Singh Kothari, the people of Udaipur see a dynamic, decisive and development-oriented leader who has emerged as a ray of hope for the dreams and aspirations of the citizens of Udaipur. We wish that he takes our city to new heights of progress. ☺

My Love for Udaipur in Paintings ~ Kashish Seth

BEING AN ARTIST.

Kashish Seth (kashu_nuts)

‘Art is not a handicraft, it is the transmission of a feeling.the Artist has experienced.’

Visiting ‘The Venice of me East‘ was a relevance for me as I was connected to it from the soul. UDAIPUR~ the city of lakes had me enthralled from the very moment I stepped the foot on its pious land in June 2012. The enchanting lakes, palaces & lively culture inspired me and keep me fascinated by its sights and sounds. The lush green hills of Aravalis around the azure water lakes make this land an Artist’s dream.

The unnatural and spiritual connection I felt with the land, specially The Royal City Palace made me feel that I had previous birth attachment to the land. And soon I fell in love with the land of valor and gallantry.

That short fascinating trip into Udaipur helped me to get in touch with the true Artist in me & I was drawn to expressing my visit onto canvas. Through Instagram, I started sharing my creations and Udaipur came into my life once again.

With my number of followers increasing I started translating impressions of the photographers of Udaipur onto my canvas. The photographers were amazed at my likeness. Today I’ve a collection of about 200+ paintings of Udaipur. From the beautiful Fatehsagar and Pichola Lake, the mesmerizing Gangaur, Ambrai and Lal Ghat, The astonishing Lake View Palace, there maybe hardly any spot of Udaipur that has not been made by me on my canvas. This year, when Fatehsagar overflowed, it was a moment of great happiness for Udaipurites and though sitting miles away from it, I expressed my happiness by making it. I thank to Almighty for having given me this gesture and am grateful that I’ve got a platform to showcase my talent.

Udaipur ~ The land which inspires Poets, Artists and Writers with the flavour of its heroic past, fairy tale palaces, gardens, lakes is a city which holds me in its embrace – a hug which I will never grow tired of and which holds me spellbound. If I take birth the next time on Earth, I wish to be born in the dream city – Udaipur.
