Here Is All You Need To Know About Shilpgram 2021

In English, the term ‘Shilpgram’ translates to the village of artisans. Shilpgram, in Udaipur, is spread over 70 acres of land on undulating terrain. It’s a huge market that takes place from 21st December to 31st December every year. The fair is ethnographic at its core. It’s ten days brimming with culture, music, art, handicrafts, Rajasthani food, clothes of a variety of materials, and many more exquisite activities for people to explore. As a resident of Udaipur, I can vouch that Udaipurites love and wait desperately for this particular fair all year round. 400 artists and 300 artisans will take part in Shilpgram this year. Diversity can be expected at its finest.

The entry ticket ranges from 15 to 55 rupees only, and it starts at 11 in the morning and goes on with all its glory till 9 in the evening. Tickets can also be booked online from Shilpgram’s website*. Artisans from all over India travel here to set up their shops and offer familiarity with their culture. Udaipurites love shopping earthen pots, hand-printed crockery, miniature art paintings, pashmina shawls for the famous Udaipur winters, jute handbags, exceptional oxidized jewelry, and plenty of other distinctive artistry.

Tired yet enthusiastic shoppers quench their thirst and hunger, and get their energy stirred-up at different stalls to enjoy Sugarcane Juice, Chana Jor Garam, Popcorn, Sliced Pineapple, Sweet Corn, the whole lunch is cooked at certain stalls, and many varieties of sweets, Raabs, Chai and flavored Milk. Both tourists and locals eat at Shilpgram with great fondness.

The night shows are worth the stay till 11 at night. Performers from different backgrounds take the stage to demonstrate the best quality of dance, music, and theatre. All ten days are filled with great cultural performances. Taking a day out for Shilpgram is worth skipping almost everything. From dawn to dusk there isn’t a pinch of boredom felt. All the shopping, in turn, helps the artisans get loads of art appreciation and helps them with business. This year, the cultural performances will happen in two rounds to adhere to the guidelines provided for Covid-19. On 21st December 2021, the Inauguration will take place on Muktakashi Rangmunch. After this, from 22nd to 30th December, the cultural program will be held in Darpan Sabhagaar in two rounds; 4 pm to 5 pm and 7 pm to 8 pm. Entry will be allowed on a first come first basis. In the afternoon, from 12 pm to 12:30 pm and 1 pm to 1:30 pm, performances will be held at Muktakashi Rangmunch.

Shilpgram is a place to make plans with both friends and family. So brush up your bargaining skills, take out those eco-friendly bags and work up a good appetite for both art and food as the Fair of Shilpgram is starting from tomorrow.

A few things to be kept in mind before making a plan for Shilpgram:

  1. Entry will be prohibited without a mask.
  2. Do carry a sanitizer.
  3. Certificates of both doses of vaccination will be asked at the entrance.

Rajasthan Diwas 2021 – Rajasthan’s Foundation Day

“Rang Rangeelo Ras Bharyo MHARO PYARO RAJASTHAN”

The land of Rajasthan has always been in the limelight since ancient times because of its grandeur and great warriors. Rajasthan is the biggest state in India in terms of area and is blessed with truly vivacious cultures, tradition, heritage, and a grand lineage. The state celebrates its 71st Foundation Day on 30th March 2021. A number of events take place to celebrate the auspicious day, and Rajasthanis take active participation in the Foundation Day’s celebration. Various programs are being organised at the Janpath in Jaipur to reminisce the rich heritage of Rajasthan. However, due to the COVID-19 precautions and guidelines, the celebration has been kept low this year. Nevertheless, we will still rejoice this day in our hearts and wish you a very happy Rajasthan Diwas!

The Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Mr Ashok Gehlot, tweeted this morning to wish the people of Rajasthan a very happy Rajasthan Diwas. His tweet included quite a charming message about the princely state where he described Rajasthan as a “Land of Warriors and Adventurers.”

Why do we celebrate Rajasthan Diwas?

The princely states of Jaipur, Jodhpur, Bikaner, and Jaisalmer were combined to form the “Greater Rajasthan Union” on 30th March 1949. This day is considered the establishment day of Rajasthan, where people could bask in all its historic glory. Rajasthan was divided into over 22 native princely states, soon after India was liberated from British Rule. Only one of the princely states that is Ajmer Marwada, was ruled by the Britishers, and the other 21 states came under the native kings, who proclaimed to call their alliance after independence. As a result, many small provinces were merged as one and thus became the largest state of Rajasthan. Therefore, to commemorate and celebrate the alliance of princely states and provinces, we celebrate Rajasthan Diwas 30th March every year. The states were a mix of two major regions of Rajasthan, i.e., Mewar and Marwar. Know the difference between Mewar and Marwar here!

Rajasthan Diwas 2021 Exhibition organized in Suchana Kendra Auditorium, Udaipur

On the occasion of Rajasthan Diwas 2021, an exhibition based on the art, culture and geographical beauty of Rajasthan was organized in the Suchana Kendra Auditorium under the aegis of the District Administration, Tourism and Public Relations Department on Tuesday. District Collector Chetan Deora inaugurated this ‘Bahurangi (Multi-coloured) Rajasthan’ exhibition in the Suchana Kendra Auditorium.

The district collector was overwhelmed by the unique confluence of natural beauty with art, culture, and the glorious history of the Mewar region. The Collector bowed down the portrait of Maharana Pratap displayed during the exhibition and freely appreciated the portrait based on the architecture of the famous tourist destination, Jagdish Temple in Udaipur. During the Rajasthan Diwas Exhibition, several officials of the district administration, including social worker Pankaj Sharma, MLA Phool Singh Meena, visited the exhibition and appreciated the art and artefacts displayed there. This multi-coloured exhibition depicts the crafts, architecture, art culture and scenic diversity of Rajasthan through more than 200 colourful shadow paintings.

Interesting facts you should know about this World Consumer Rights Day

There are numerous questions that come to mind when we talk about consumer rights and things associated with the term. What are consumer rights? Can we ensure our safety through these rights? Can you sue the brand for making cheap quality products?… and so on! Do you know that there are a number of rights that protect you against false items? To make you aware of the same, we have come up with this blog where you can know all about consumer protection rights and how can you reach a consumer protection right forum or helpline number in Udaipur.

First things first, let me tell you a little something about consumer rights and why we celebrate World Consumer Rights Day.

What are Consumer Rights?

Being a consumer or buyer, you have the right to have proper and authentic information about goods or services that are sold to you. The seller is liable to ensure the quality, purity, price, potency, and standards of the goods and services sold to the customer.

Why is World Consumer Rights Day Celebrated?

The World Consumer Rights Day falls on 15th March every year, as a means to raise awareness among the people about their needs and rights as a consumer. By celebrating this day, we aware of each other of the right to demand protection and respect against the consumers and to stay safe from the fraudulent activities taking place in the marketplace. The day gives us a chance to protect ourselves against market abuses and social injustices by local or online sellers, which undermines those rights. President John F Kennedy of the USA was the first one to address the issues that consumers face every day, which ultimately gave rise to World Consumer Day. He addressed the topic in the special letter/message sent to the US Congress on March 15, 1962, where he formally instigated to focus on consumer rights. The movement first marked its date in 1983 and is now celebrated every year with the help of campaigns and releasing important issues.

Important Facts and Rights that Protects you as a Consumer

If you are buying goods and services from a local market or any online platform, you are liable to benefit from various rights if the things sold to you are wrong or not up to the mark. Unfortunately, many consumers are not aware of their rights, which puts them in a difficult situation anytime they buy products or services, and they are delivered under false pretenses.  Lots of consumers encounter complications when seeking to profit from those rights. In a few cases, customers may be provided erroneous or perplexing information regarding their compensation privileges from a seller after lodging a complaint.

  • The Consumer Protection Bill, 2019 was passed by the Lok Sabha Minister (The Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution), Mr Ram Vilas Pawan, on July 08, 2019, which replaces the Consumer Protection Act 1986.
  • You have a right to file a complaint from anywhere, anytime. The consumer has the right to lodge a complaint from home, office, or anywhere else if faced with any product or service-related problem.
  • You have a right to seek product or service compensation under this liability. In case of any defective product or service, you are liable to file a report to express the product’s warranty, and if the seller denies accepting the same, he or she will be held liable for the consequences. This stipulation brings e-commerce under its realm.
  • If you have an issue related to violation of consumer rights or unfair selling practices that are a result of misleading advertising, then you have a right to protect yourself as a class.
  • A consumer has the right to seek a hearing with the help of video conferencing. Under this provision, you have a right to present your complaint before the district committee on the basis of an affidavit or recorded evidence to prove your point.
  • If your complaint is rejected, you have the right to know the reason for the same. No district commission is allowed to reject your complaint without hearing. In fact, the commission is required to decide about rejecting or admitting the complaint within 21 days, and there is no action taken for the same, then the complaint is directly deemed as admitted under the law.
  • You have a right to choose a product or service and negotiate for the same.
  • As a consumer, you have a right to seek redressal or compensation for unfair trade practices or restricted trade practices.
  • The biggest right of them all, you do NOT need a lawyer to appear in a consumer court! You can have any relative or even yourself represent the case. Alternatively you can also have a lawyer do initial paperwork and then handle rest of the things all by yourself!

So this is how an intimate yet splendid affair came to an end with people that matters the most!

Time for the Departure of Tollywood Actors!

Heart-filled messages were sent by the stars to show their gratitude towards the City of Lakes, Udaipur. As the wedding of Niharika Konidela and Chaitanya JV came to an end, the guests prepared to depart from Udaipur to Hyderabad on Thursday.

Kalki Raja wrote – “Time to depart, Bye-Bye Udaipur… What an amazing city.”

After a glimpse of South Indian tradition at the wedding, the Udaipurites are in utter awe to have yet another destination wedding in the city. It has been a second consecutive destination wedding in Udaipur. First was the wedding of Aksht Ranaut, younger brother of Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut, which was also a highlight of town for the time being.  Also, in December 2019, India’s billionaire business magnate Mukesh Ambani’s daughter Isha Ambani’s pre-wedding functions took place in Udaipur.

We can proudly say that Udaipur has been the most favoured destination wedding location in India and beyond!

For those who missed Udaipur Food Drive season 3: Everything you want to know

There is no sincere love than the love of food.”  – George Bernard Shaw

Most people cherish monsoons because of its rain and the heart-pleasing weather, while there are others, like me who crave, crave and just crave for food. UdaipurBlog knowing this, successfully conducted the most awaited event Udaipur Food Drive 2019, which was its 3rd edition. Also, UdaipurBlog which has always nurtured innovative ideas to bring people together, be it ULF (Udaipur light festival), UBPhotowalk, fashion contest, or any other event, the central idea has remained the same for years – let’s connect.

Udaipur Blog

Food Drive (“food+drive”) is one such amazing event which provides a platform for food enthusiasts to connect & share their experiences, amazing food journeys, and explore the unexplored world of flavors.

Let’s know how this started-

It was a Saturday evening, and the Udaipur folks were in a weekend mood. The sun was playing hide and seek with clouds, while the drizzling rain was in no mood to stop even for a while, whereas the clouds were resting on every big and small hill around Udaipur to make people come out of their houses and get selfies with them. This was the time when team UdaipurBlog was uniting people from all spheres of life to share a common table and feast on toothsome food at different corners of the town.

Our first stop was Twist Bar and Lounge. This spectacular place is located near Shobhagpura circle and offers the perfect ambience for anyone looking to hang out with friends and family. In no time, the place was occupied with more than 40 food lovers, all excited and ready to eat. Soon the staff at Twist emerged with the food which not only tasted heavenly but also looked spectacular. Everywhere you could see was people eagerly waiting to grab a quick bite.

Next we drove to The Bungalow, a multi-cuisine restaurant located near Sukhadia Circle. The much-needed warmth due to the rainy season was provided, not only by the place’s ambiance but also the service and humbleness of the staff. Upon arrival, we were greeted with a welcome drink. After a small introduction about the place and its history, the food was served. The fusion of different cuisines definitely caught our attention but the Veg Pad Thai Noodles, in particular, stole our hearts.

It’s said that ‘all is well that ends well’, and our last destination did just that. Panna Vilas Rooftop Restaurant  is a beautiful property that offers a mesmerizing view of Lake Fateh Sagar. The alluring ambience of the place was complemented with the flavorful food that was served. The Chicken Banjara, which they say is the queen of their menu, took the limelight. The tandoori aroma was enough to trigger the mood and taste buds of all foodies. No doubt, the food was sumptuous together with the atmosphere it offered.

When the weather is on its full charm and the soul is filled with so many flavors, how could one forget to seize the moment? All the attendees flooded their phones and cameras with hundreds and thousands of selfies and images of food, beautiful faces in binging mood and of course the picturesque views. Here are some of the memories compiled for you:
