Chunda Polo Club Reviving the Spirit of Polo Sport in Udaipur

Chunda Polo Club which is a part of Chunda Palace in Udaipur is organizing polo matches in Udaipur. The inaugural match of the Chunda Polo Cup was conducted on 25th December 2018. Chief Guest of the event was Shri Arvind Singh Mewar along with South African Test and One Day International cricketer, Jonty Rhodes.

The event is being conducted at the Bujra village situated at a distance of 11 km from the city. Semi-final match of the Polo cup would be conducted on 30th December 2018 followed by the finale match on 31st December 2018 at. A total of 3 teams are participating in these polo matches with 10 players which are mentioned below:

Team Ashvashakti – Tejveer Singh Jhala, Veeramdev Singh Krishnawat, and Himmat Singh Bedla

Team Yashobal – Abhiraj Singh Shaktawat, Akshay Singh Kushwaha, Yaduraj Singh Krishnawat, and Brad Macgibbon

Team Ashvamegh – Aryaveer Singh Shaktawat, Rajveer Singh Jhala, and Captain Raghavraj Singh Shivrati

The motive of Chunda Polo Club to conduct Chunda Polo Cup is to revive the spirit of Polo in Udaipur. Polo was highly played in the town in the era of Maharana Fateh Singh Ji. The Polo Ground behind Field club was the original polo ground back then. “After Fateh Singh Ji, Arvind Singh Ji was a big support and a driving force to all the budding polo players of the city” says Veeramdev Singh Krishnawat (Polo player from Udaipur). He further added that Shri Arvind Singh Ji was the first civilian patron who supported Indian Polo in the country.

The sport of Polo always attracted huge attention from the Udaipurites. Back in the year 2014, district collector organized a polo match in the BN ground. The match witnessed a whopping crowd of more than 6000 people.

  • Lokendra Singh Ghanerao (Captained India in the World Cup) as well as a mentor of the players in Udaipur.
  • Captain Raghavraj Singh Shivrati (Represented India in playoffs and played professionally for teams like Jindals).
  • Himmat Singh Bedla (played for teams like Mewar polywood and is Patron of IPG Bedla team)
  • Bhupendra Singh Agria (played for multiple teams in India and abroad)
  • Tejveer Singh Jhala (played for teams like Sahara)
  • Veeramdev Singh Krishnawat (Most valuable player in the national school tournament in the UK as well as for teams such as Mewar Thunderbolt).

Flower Exhibition at Fatehsagar Pal Begins from Tomorrow

This year’s flower exhibition will begin from 25th December and will run for 10 days coming to an end by 3 January 2019. The entire Fatehsagar Pal will be decorated with colorful flowers with which the place will acquire a soothing fragrance.

UIT along with other government and non-government bodies have begun the preparation of the exhibition. Both the sides of the pal will be decorated with different species of flowers and will be open for everyone from morning to evening. Apart from watching the beauty of the flowers, citizens will also be able to know about them and Kids coming to the exhibition will be given free flower pots as well.

Flower pots are being prepared with flowers of different species at Saheliyon ki Badi, Gulab Bagh, Rajiv Gandhi Park, etc.

Swasth Bharat Yatra in Udaipur on 17th December

Swasth Bharat Yatra is a pan India cycle rally which is inspired by Mahatma Gandhi’s Dandi March and Salt Satyagraha of 1930. The concept of the rally is that just like Mahatma Gandhi led the nation towards freedom from colonial rule, this yatra would also lead the nation towards being free from diseases by cascading the message of Eat Right India to every corner of the country.

The rally comes under the ‘Eat right India’ movement which has been launched by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. The main idea behind the rally is to raise awareness about ‘Eat right India – it safe, and Healthy and fortified food’.

This rally will reach Udaipur on 16th December and on 17th December it will function as a rally to make the people aware of healthy and balanced food to the people. The rally will begin from 9 am 17th December from Townhall where commoners and local people can get involved in the rally as well. From Townhall, the rally will reach Gandhi ground campus after passing through the activation point at Delhigate.

The program at Gandhi Ground will include cultural performances by Meera Girls College and Pacific Medical College, yoga performances would be given by NCC Cadets and Nehru Yuva Kendra will contribute in the Cyclothone.

Shilpgram Utsav is a 10-day long fête which showcases the art and culture of different parts of the country through various performances, exhibitions, and artistry. The Utsav is organized by West Zone Cultural center and since the year 1991, the event is organized every year by the end of December. The festival has become one of the most popular and admired cultural festivals of the city.

The Second Edition of Udaipur Tea Festival is Here!

All the tea fanatics, here’s one festival just for you. The first edition of Udaipur Tea Festival was conducted in Feb 2018. It is a unique concept by Kalla Kriti Events. The event witnessed huge success last year with all the tea lovers of the town and so it is back again with the second edition.

The three-day fest will begin on 14th December 2018 between 10 am to 10 pm. The good news is that the entry to the fest is absolutely free for all so that you can experience the specialty tea and encourage and grow a passion for tea altogether.

What’s in it?

As the name clearly suggests, there will be tea. Lots of it! In fact, 25 varieties of tea which will include Rose tea, lemon tea, Irani tea, saunf tea, tulsi tea, herbal tea, masala tea, chocolate tea, jaggery tea, etc. In addition to that, there will also be free medicated tea in the morning for everyone.

Apart from that, there will be interesting and fun-filled performances by different bands and artists. Interactive activities will take place too such as open mic, commerce treasure hunt, horse ride, camel ride, boat rides, and many old school games.

The event is not only about tea, but it’s about health, happiness, and enjoyment.

Mewar Pink Run 2018 Marathon in Udaipur to Raise Awareness about Cancer

The Mewar Pink Run 2018 Marathon is a health awareness social event organized by Mewar Innovations Services Private Limited. The aim of the marathon is to fight against breast cancer. It will be organized on 23rd December 2018 at Fatehsagar. The running categories in the marathon are as follows –

 

 

  1. 21 km Mewar royals Half Marathon (Competitive) – 750/-
  2. 11 KM Heritage Run (Competitive) – 500/-
  3. 5 KM Lakecity Run (Competitive) – 250/-
  4. 3 km Smart and Healthy student’s run (senior school and college students) – 100/-

‘Forum Just Dance’ by Forum Celebration Mall for All the Dance Enthusiasts

Age Group (Senior) – 16 years & above

 

Group Dance

Maximum 8 persons per group

The dance competition will be led by an audition which will be conducted on 22nd December 2018, 11:00 AM onwards. In the auditions, 10 participants will be selected from each category who will get a chance to perform in the Grand finale which will be conducted on 5th Jan 2019, 5:00 PM onwards at Forum Celebration Mall. Top three winners in each category will be awarded ‘Just Dance’ trophies and exciting gift vouchers.

Bhagyashree launched Durriya Kapasi’s second book ‘Neverfound land’ in Udaipur

Bollywood actress Bhagyashree launched Durriya Kapasi’s second novel ‘Neverfound Land’ on Saturday at Udaipur Tales International Storytelling Festival which was conducted at Park Exotica Resort.

During her conversation with the media, Author Durriya Kapasi informed the media that the book ‘Neverfound Land’ is the sequel of her first bestselling novel named ‘Once Upon A Genie’. The storyline of the first book revolves around a human-genie love story. And on the other part, ‘Neverfound Land’ is based on the hybrid character of human and genie named ‘Solomon’. With the power he acquired, Solomon discovers the mysterious world of Genies and the tribe he belongs to.

Kapasi said “The storyline is very different and I am sure readers of all age and background will love it”

In this launch, the founder of the event Salil Bhandari and Sushmita Singha were also present along with Bhagyashree’s husband Himalaya.

The Grand Festival of Kumbhalgarh will Start from Tomorrow

Kumbhalgarh Festival is a 3-day festival organized by the Department of Tourism of Rajasthan every year at Kumbhalgarh fort. The grand event commemorates the contribution of Maharana Kumbha’s contribution towards art and culture. Throughout the fest, the fort is embellished so much so that the tourists and even the locals are just astonished by its beauty.

This 3-day fest will begin from tomorrow i.e. 1st December 2018, coming to an end by 3rd December 2018. It showcases all the colors of Rajasthani culture through its dance performance and other activities. The competitions and programmes carried out in the fest simply escalates the zeal and enthusiasm of the people and makes them feel what it was like in the bygone era of Mewar.

The fest includes performances by various renowned artists from all over the country. Sound and light shows are conducted too with the Kumbhalgarh Fort in the background.

Day 1 – Dance performances like Ghoomar, Kalbeliya dance and Kachchi Ghodi will mark the beginning of the fest at Yagya Vedi Chowk of Kumbhalgarh. These Rajasthani dance performances will be followed by a Kathak dance by Sayani Chavda of Kolkata in the evening.

Day 2 – Second would be a fun-filled day with the most happening Tug of war competition between locals and foreigners. In addition to that, turban tying competition will be conducted on all 3 days.

Day 3 – The last day of the fest will include Sufi song performances, Rajasthani folk dance and music, and classical songs and dance.

The most awaited performance of the fest is that of Gulabo who is a Rajasthani dancer. Gulabo has gained international fame from her outstanding dance moves. One of the most famous works of her is ‘Kaalyo kood padyo mela mein’.
