One of the biggest Narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances were seized in Udaipur. In the region of Kaladwas, the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence seized 23.5 metric tons of Mandrax tablets.

During a press conference, Central Board of Excise and Customs Chairman Najeeb Shah addressed that the Mandrax tablets were primarily meant for the international market, mainly focusing Mozambique and South Africa.

As per various news sources the worth of least Rs 9,000 Crore in the global market and Rs.3000 Crore in Local Market, these drugs were seized in raids by the DRI in two warehouses and a pharmaceutical factory in Udaipur. According to drug control officers in Mumbai, a kilogram of Mandrax costs approximately Rs 20 Lakh in the International Market.

As per a report of Hindustan Times, states like Gujarat and Rajasthan have illegal pharma companies manufacturing the banned tablet, mainly for sale in the US, Europe, and South Africa.

And, as per Indian Pharma Market, this banned addictive drug costs just a few rupees to manufacture a tablet in India, whereas it is sold around Rs 150 per tablet in the international market.

The Hindustan Times report also adds that the DRI detained its owner Ravi Dhudhwani and later on, he led them to two warehouses where the tablets were being stored. Along with Ravi Dhudhwani, his relative Subhash and four other people were also arrested during the investigation of drug racket.
