MMCF is supporting the ‘Widow Care Project’ at Udaipur, Rajasthan

Swami Vivekanand Seva Nyas (SVSN), Udaipur is a voluntary organization with a difference. This welfare trust is inspired by the teachings of Swami Vivekanand: “Daridra Devo Bhava” (to serve the poor is to serve God). Since 2004, SVSN has aimed to serve the underprivileged by economic empowerment of the rural population through innovative training in agriculture and animal husbandry; infrastructure improvement of schools; healthcare delivery and awareness training and social awareness against orthodox practices such as child marriage, dowry, etc. While in urban areas SVSN supports financial and health care for needy widows. SVSN has undertaken an endeavor to improve the quality of life of destitute widow residing in Udaipur and neighbouring areas of Udaipur with an objective to provide free monthly medical check-up by doctors, distribution of medicines for the whole month and if necessary refer them to other specialties for surgeries like cataract, dental care; to provide monthly pension to widow so that they can fulfill their very basic needs; to provide scholarship stationeries and uniforms to children of young widows so that they can continue their education and to provide skill development training to young capable widows so that they can earn their livelihood. MMCF is supporting the project for the year 2016-17 with an objective to promote distribution of clothing, medical relief, books etc. and to help institution who are working for the benefit of widows.
SVSN organizes a medical camp in Udaipur on every last Sunday of the month with free medical services which includes checkups, referring to eye and dental hospitals, surgeries and free distribution of full course of medicines for the month for these widows. Presently 200 widows are enrolled and 135 are regularly getting benefited. This camp is conducted by senior eminent doctors of Udaipur. In April 2016 the camp was organised on 24th and more than 100 widows were benefited. The camp is coordinated by SVSN team members under the guidance of Smt. Manjula Bordia,  President and Dr. Arun Bordia, Founder Member of SVSN, Udaipur.
