We Don’t Really Need a Political Identification! – Shri Gulab Chand Kataria

Gulab Chand Kataria

As was the occasion of our M.L.A. Shri Gulab Chand Kataria’s birthday; Kalpit Rajak, Mujtaba RG & Yash Sharma from Team UdaipurBlog were present at the Seva Bharti Hospital for being a part of the celebration. The day was spent in a very serene and noble manner with a blood donation programme and some little happy chit-chats with the people present and party-workers. Our Special thanks to Mr. Manoj Joshi Ji for Coordinating this meet 🙂 –

UdaipurBlog: Sixty Eight years; indeed a very long journey, a broad political life.. In your words, how do you visualize it…

Gulab Ji: It has really been a long journey. Met many people during this time; who not only taught me the morals and values but also helped come up in the political arena. I have been a part of the Sangh since the starting and I feel lucky to have instilled in me the principles of sacrifice and commitment. Working for public welfare without any selfish motives is the only thing I’ve given priority to throughout my life. And that’s what I expect from the upcoming politicians. I am always overwhelmed with the love, people have given me; since 1977 when I was elected as the MLA till the present day… Nothing has really changed- neither me nor their love.

UdaipurBlog: The major population of our country is formed by the youth, and although many of them are interested in politics- nobody knows where and how to enter it…

Gulab Ji: Being a MLA or MP is not just the deal. Politics is..! Working for the welfare of people, they don’t always need a political identity to do that! Many people are doing it by their own means, in their own ways; and are recognized even more than political personalities. So it’s just a thinking that a political identification is needed to work for the people! It can be done anyhow.

UdaipurBlog: There have been many ups-n-downs on the name of BJP’s contender for the PM post for the next Lok Sabha elections. Who is your choice?

Gulab Ji: These are not healthy perceptions… We don’t need a name or face to gather support. If votes are casted; all are for the party. Even a prior declaration won’t do much at present. Yeah if there were persons like Atal Bihari Vajpayee JI yet with us then it could have mattered; for such name really had a strong public appraisal and sentimental attraction. Rest, it’s just that the one who will be the most suited and worthy for handling the post; will be the appropriate face- after the elections!

UdaipurBlog: What do you say about the role of money & muscle power in our elections? Don’t you think the identity of common man is being entombed in all this!

Gulab Ji: I have worked on the principles Sangh had taught me- Tyag avum Samarpan, i.e. Sacrifice & Commitment. I have believed in working selflessly for the people but; what is happening these days is, many politicians are satirically more interested in Personal Welfare than Public Welfare! Not all of them are like such, there are noble men too; but still it is a truth.

UdaipuBlog: You have been the former Home Minister of the State; the problem we clearly see these days is the weakness of our Police Structure! What do you say about it?

Gulab Ji: Our Police System actually is not weak! It’s really very sad to see the cases of attacks and murders of cops. But you should know this that the force remains the same; just that every 5 years- the Minister changes! He is the sole commander; whatever he’ll guide them to do, it’ll be the outcome! The Minister above is definitely very influential in running the department; depends on him, how he uses the power!

UdaipurBlog: Another problem is of Corruption. The Indian democracy has seen historic happenings this year; movements, especially that of Anna Hazare has led a great impact on people. In fact, a negative wave has impulsed amongst the masses against political leaders. What do you say about it?

Gulab Ji: The movement of Anna Hazare has thoroughly shown us that the Indian public is still united. They still have great respect for the noble human values. Anna is wealthy of the same characters and this is the reason why he has become so popular in a very short time. It’s really a plight that politicians and social workers after working for a long time in public welfare don’t get that much recognition.
That’ll be all.

UdaipurBlog: Lastly Sir, any message for the people of Udaipur through UdaipurBlog?

Gulab Ji: I really thank the public of Udaipur for their support and love. And I wish that their blessings always remain with me.
Also, we all appreciate the team of UdaipurBlog for their work for our City Of Lakes. 🙂

Birthday Greetings to Mr. Gulab Chand Kataria

Mr. Gulab Chand Kataria needs no introduction to anyone in Udaipur, as well as outside Udaipur. A former Home minister in Government of Rajasthan, he is a senior leader of BJP and is also a member of central working committee of the party. He resides in our own Udaipur, and has represented it in 9th Lok Sabha.

Gulab Chand Kataria_UdaipurBlog
Mr. Gulab Chand Kataria

He was born on 13th Oct 1944 at Delwara Village near Udaipur City. Today, on 13th of October 2011, he celebrates his 67th Birthday.

As we all know, Mr. Mohan Lal Sukhadia (ex- Chief Minister, Rajasthan) saw a dream that the lakes of Udaipur shall always remain full throughout the year, it was Mr. Kataria who struggled for the project and got it completed. Yet this down-to-earth visionary gives all the credit to Mr. Sukhadia for the entire Devas project, even sometimes going against the party guidelines. He has done many social and development works for our beautiful city of lakes.

His program for today will begin with Rudra Abhishek at the Triyambakeshwar Mahadev Mandir, Machla Magra, Sector 11 at about 7:30 AM.Then, he will be participating at a function in the party office, which will be followed by tree plantation programme, where he will be planting trees on occasion of his birthday, and later he will also take part in a blood donation camp at Seva Mandir.

Mr. Bhagwan Lal Sharma
Mr. Bhagwan Lal

In a small discussion with Mr. Bhagwan Lal Sharma, Secretary, Triyambakeshwar Mahadev Mandir, we were informed that Mr. Kataria is a great follower of Lord Shiva, and has been worshipping at the temple from more than 25 years, whose foundation too was laid by Mr. Gulab Chand Kataria. Every year, on occasion of his birthday, he performs the Rudrabhishek ceremony of Lord Shiva, worships Lord Shiva before going anywhere on the day of elections, as well as attends all the functions of the temple, such as Shivratri, Janmashtmi, etc alongwith his colony mates.

The entire Team of UdaipurBlog wishes him a very happy birthday. May his great ideas be a guiding path for those who want to contribute their life for the development as well as also be a role model for upliftment of Udaipur in every possible case, just as he himself did.

Here are a few facts about Mr. Gulab Chand Kataria. (Source: Wikipedia)

At age of becoming grand parents, IVF turns childless couple parents

The excitement is palpable in Dhundarka village of Mandsaur. A childless couple, who was not able to conceive a child for over 35 years, has recently given birth to a baby boy through IVF. The mother is 50 and father 54years old. The couple is blessed by the advancements in technology .  It is amazing to see the satisfying shine on their faces,” said IVF specialist Dr. Shweta Agarwal of R.K.Hospital & Infertility (IVF) Center, Udaipur.

The Couple with their Child

The couple, Sohandevi and Suratram, said that they had been trying for a child and undergoing treatment and visited various temples also in past 30 years now. The father is a correspondent in local news magazine. Getting older, the social urge to have a child became more intense and the couple decided to give technology another shot.

“Sohandevi is uneducated, but she understood all about the treatment and was very patient. And by God’s grace she got pregnant in the first attempt of IVF only”, said Dr. Shweta Agarwal. “We had counseled the couple about the challenges of getting a child so late in life, but they were ready. When we placed the son in her lap, she seemed content,” Dr Shweta said.  Sohandevi’s case only highlights the acceptability IVF has gained in the society. “People from lower socio-economic strata who are not very educated are getting comfortable with IVF but do not accept surrogacy. They feel that society will accept the child better if the child is reared in her own womb”, says Dr Shweta.

[Pictures] Farewell to the Goddess with Invitation for the Next Year

Vijaya Dashmi is the tenth day from Navratri Sthapna. It is symbolized as the victory of good over evil, as Dusshera, when Ram won over Ravan and freed Seeta from Lanka. This day is also celebrated for Goddess Durga, who is worshipped during these nine days, is given a grand farewell by the devotees. Every year all the devotees of Goddess Durga become a part of grand procession, and with great enthusiasm, endeavor and devotion, the idols of the Goddess are immersed in water bodies.

Visarjan | Durga Pooja | UdaipurBlog.com

It is believed that during Navratri, Goddess Durga and her kids visit us, at her home, or Maayka from her in-law home place (Sasural), and goes back from our world to her Sasural on the 10th day. Hence on the 10th day, the procession is similar to any farewell celebrations which happen after all marriages. After the deity is immersed, people wish each other with the greetings of Vijaya Dashmi, and return to their homes.

This year, I became a part of the Vijaya Dashmi celebration at Bengali Kalibadi Society, Hiran Magri Sec. 4. I could see crowd gathering and everyone preparing for the farewell to the Goddess.Women were beautifully dressed in traditional white Sarees with red borders.  The ceremony was started by a ritual called Darpan Visarjan, followed by Sindur Khela, a ceremony only for women where they worship Goddess Durga, and then play with Sindoor. After that, the idols were loaded onto a truck, and the entire procession followed shouting slogans, with Dhols, Nagaadas, and huge amount of fireworks. Slowly and slowly the procession reached Swaroop Sagar, where keeping in mind the eco-friendly tradition,  the non-biodegradable/plastic items were stripped off the idols, and with full devotion the deity was immersed into water, with an invitation to shower the blessings on us and come again in the next year.

Check out the pictures of the event, captured by (in alphabetical order) Aniket John, Gaurav Bhattacharya, Mujtaba RG, Prasun Bannerjee, and Sanjay Das.
