To get rid of severe traffic congestion at one of the city’s busiest road, Sevashram and Thokar Chouraha, UIT has proposed to build a flyover from Ayad Puliya to BN College Road.
The flyover will start from Ayad Puliya which connects Sevashram Chouraha to Thokar and end near Dalal Petrol Pump located at BN College Road. The Urban Improvement Trust of Udaipur has already started working on the design for the same.
The flyover will ease the traffic congestion at both the Chouraha. Also, people travelling from Dabok Airport can avoid getting stuck in the traffic at Sevashram. Now, the proposed flyover is likely to help ease the growing traffic situation and make the commute to the airport quicker.
In a meeting held at UIT Udaipur, UIT Chairman and Udaipur District Collector Ms Anandhi investigated the plan and check the feasibility of the project.
With an aim to ensure better traffic management and create awareness about rules and regulations, the Udaipur Police has engaged student traffic volunteers in Udaipur city on an experimental basis.
This Student Traffic Volunteer Scheme will be inaugurated on Friday, 24 January by Traffic DSP, Sudha Palawat and TI, Netrapal Singh in presence of IG Binita Thakur and Udaipur SP Kailash Chandra Bishnoi.
After imparting proper training, the district police will be deploying 30 boys and girls initially on a trial basis. After the feedback, the police department will deploy the students at various locations during the Sadak Suraksha Saptah which will begin from 4th February.
The Student Volunteer Scheme was introduced in Bhubaneshwar and Cuttack in January 2017 encouraging college and university students to assist police personnel in regulating traffic.
The final round of Swachh Survekshan 2020 has started, but the city is lagging far behind in citizen feedback evaluation.
Citizen feedback, which has 25% weightage (1,500 marks out of the total 6,000), is for people to share their experiences about the city’s sanitation. The feedback is open till January 31.
The lack of awareness in the city about this feedback system is clearly visible. Since the feedback process will end soon, the Municipal Corporation of Udaipur has also started creating awareness about it.
There are four ways of giving citizen feedback under the Swachh Survekshan 2020. Udaipur is way behind in giving feedback in these four ways.
The feedback received as of 21 January 2020 is as under:
City App – 192 feedbacks
Portal – 3928
IVR – 4
Swachta App – 42

Udaipur Nagar Nigam has started a drive to remove all the temporary encroachments that are narrowing the roads of the city. The municipal corporation of Udaipur has started this campaign to widen the streets of the city which are causing trouble to the commuters.
The special thing about this campaign is that it is not pre-scheduled. The Municipal Corporation team is reaching the market every day without giving any prior notice. This will not allow the businessmen and shopkeepers to remove the encroachment at the time of action and put it back once the Municipal Corporation team is gone.
According to the Mayor of Udaipur, G S Tank, the corporation will take this action in all the major markets of the city and it will continue doing it till the businessmen and shopkeepers get into the habit of keeping the roads encroachment free.
So far, action has been taken from Surajpol to Mukherjee Chowk.
