BAHURANG – The Craft Festival

Bahurang means vivid colors and these vivid colors have started spreading on the land of Udaipur with inaugural of a 5 days craft festival at Bhartiya Lok Kala Mandal premise.

The festival is scheduled from 09 January to 13 January 2013. The festival is being organized in joint collaboration with Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya, Bhopal and Bhartiya Lok Kala Mandal, Udaipur. Folk Performers, Painters and Craftsman from around the country would participate and showcase their art form at Udaipur.

The festival aims to boost the art forms which are on the verge of extinction. The residents of Udaipur can shop handmade products at a very reasonable price in the festival. To attract the art and craft lovers of Udaipur the organizers has offered around 40 stalls for easy and convenient shopping.

The festival is showcasing products made from wood, bamboo, khadi, brass, cane and miniature paintings etc. The products that would catch your attraction include Lamp Shades from Orissa, Batik Print Suits from Madhya Pradesh, Silk Sarees from Assam and Show Pieces from Bustar and there would be many other to explore.

Different cultural activities would be performed during the last three days by various folk dancers of the country. The different dance forms that would be performed include Chhau Dance of West Bengal, Bagh Dance of Orissa, Bihu Dance of Assam. The entry to the Craft Festival is open to all and it is free.
