Rotary Club Udaipur Meera Oath Taking Ceremony Concluded

The ROTARY CLUB OF UDAIPUR MEERA had its oath taking ceremony on 11thJuly 2011 at the Rotary Bajaj Bhawan. President Dr. Veena Sanadhya, Secretary Dr. Seema Singh and team were given oath by Ramesh Aggarwal. The chief guest for the programme was Vice chancellor of MLSU, prof. I.V. Trivedi. According to rotary tradition programme started with invocation by Maya Chawat & 4 way test by Devika Singhvi. Past president Dr Sweety Chhabra welcomed every one present and past secretary Vijay Lakshmi Galundia presented report.

The chief guest released news letter & brochures of projects & congregated the new team. President in her speech MY YEAR AHEAD-said that this year the main target must be to complete all the initiatives and projects, namely SANGNI-for senior citizens, PERSONALITY WAVE-for women empowerment, and BAHTAE KADAM-prosperity & eco restoration projects, and with this their aim will be conducting regular meetings & strengthening friends clubs. In the end vote of thanks was given by Secretary Seema Singh. Programme was successfully conducted by Dr Kusum Mathur & Harsha Kumawat.

Sangini: A Companion for the Senior Citizens of Udaipur

Sangini (2)Rotary Club of Udaipur ‘Meera’ started a unique new initiative “SANGINI” to avail the honorary services to the senior citizen of the city so as to provide them special attention and extra care. The name itself states the whole process of the initiative. The main ideas in the initiative are:

1. Computer Skills for Senior Citizens:

A special class to edify computer skill and mobile operation to the senior citizen of the city as to make them walk with the technological generation. A one month course will be conducted in Aishwarya College by Ms Seema Singh and will be coordinated by Ms. Sanjh Narula.

2. Monthly Lecture Series:

The lecture series cum consultation started with the idea to bring the health awareness to the senior citizen. Twelve lectures cum consultation will be held on health issues with different doctors willing to serve voluntarily and also offering the consultation on the spot. Dr. Kusum Mathur is the idea leader for this effort.

3. Dedicated senior citizen hour at the selected clinics:

The private clinics and doctors will give priority time the  senior citizen in order to reduce their waiting time and give them priority treatment.  Dr. Sudha Kothari is the main person to make this idea float.

4. Phone-a-friend :

The greatest thing one can give is time. Keeping this idea in mind the Initiative started a service called ‘Phone-a-friend. There is a list of volunteers who will always be ready to support the senior citizen in any way. Mrs. Shashi Hingad holds the responsibility for this initiative.

 

sangini logoRotary Club Udaipur Meera SANGINI service project (Senior citizen) was inaugurated by Mr. Mathew Cherian, chief executive of HelpAge India Guest of honour Mr V.K.Ladia and special guest was Assistant Governor Mr U.S. Chouhan on 8th july 2011 at Mohan Singh Mehta auditorium. Meeting started with invocation from PHF, PP, Rtn Rajkumari Gandhi, Fourway test by Rtn Aroona Doshi, floral welcome by Rtn Neelu Javeria, Co-chair, Sangini Intiative,  PP, Rtn Ratan Pamecha, Rtn Sudha Bhandari. President Rtn Veena Sanadhya verbal welcome then Brief on project by Chair Rtn Neelima Khetan, medical team leader Dr Kusum Mathur, Phone a friend team leader Rtn Shashi Hingad, Computer literacy Rtn Sanjh Narula and medical clinic support from Dr Sudha Kothari and many members of various committees were present. SANGINI brochure was released & distributed. Blessings received from all present, honored best learner Mr. B.L. Verma (computer education), instructors of Aishwarya College and welcomed the volunteer International Player Mr. Mahesh Nehra who offered his services to this project after reading about it, and also Mr. Piyush Javeria whose efforts were appreciated by all. Inaugural Function ended with Rotary protocol.

[Women’s Day Special] Salute to a Legend: Mrs Meera Ranawat

A fine morning at Techno NJR knowledge campus, buses bringing students to the college and you see a tall lady welcoming every student with a sweet smile. The ones who have guessed it, yes they are right. She is none other than the sweet, caring, down-to-earth and ever smiling chairperson of the Techno India NJR Institute of Technology, Mrs. Meera Ranawat.

Meera Ranawat was born on 17.4.1952 at Merta city (Home town of Meera Bai). She did her schooling at MGD School, Jaipur. In addition to being a good student she was a good sports person and represented her school and college in Basketball. She did her graduation in Arts (B.A.) from Maharani College, Jaipur.

Her husband, Shri J.S. Ranawat, a management graduate, was a corporate executive and worked for Birla group in India and Indonesia, Sigapore and Malaysia. He was GM of a carpet company in Abu Dhabi when he left for heavenly abode on 5.6.2003.

Navdeep, her son, a bright student completed his schooling from St. Columba’s School, Delhi and international school, Jakarta,Indonesia and  did his undergraduate degree in  Telecommunication Engineering from Polytechnic University, NewYork. He subsequently did his M.S. from the same university. He was working with Reuter when he met an accident and left the world in 2001.

It was in memory of her husband and her son, Meera Ranawat established Navdeep Jitendra  Ranawat (NJR) Foundation on 12.6.2003 along with Shri R.S.Vyas, a very close family friend with an objective of setting up a world class engineering college at Udaipur, her husband’s hometown.

It is her sheer determination and perseverance that has resulted in establishment of Techno India NJR Institute of Technology. Her dream is to take this Institute to further heights and make it among top engineering colleges of India. She treats every student of the college as her own child and helps them or guides them in any of their doubts or problems. Student welfare is her topmost priority, also, she does not withdraws any salary from the college or the foundation.

She is a living example of how you can put your personal pains behind for a larger purpose in life. She is a role model for Women of India. Team Udaipurblog and the entire Udaipur salutes her on International Women’s day.
