Marianne North (1830 – 1890) was a Victorian naturalist and botanical artist, well-known for her plant and landscape painting.

She had travelled in Canada, the USA, Jamaica, Brazil, Japan, Borneo, Java, Sri Lanka, New Zealand, South Africa and in many more countries.

She spent her life in India in 1878. While she was in India, she visited Udaipur, the city of lakes on Aravali in Rajasthan. Her work on Udaipur gives us idea about the life, historical buildings and general environment of the city. The images are uploaded in the British Library site for general viewership.
