India rocks at 1st Indian Racketlon Challenger in Udaipur

Indian players rocked the four racket sports at the First Indian Racketlon Challenger Tournament by securing five out of seven titles in the events.

Abhinav Kashyap scripted a big win by beating top seed Duncan Stahl in the high-quality neck to neck match on the first day of CHA Indian Open Racketlon International Tournament.

The three-day-long event was held at Field Club Udaipur from 10 January to 12 January 2020.

The result of the tournament was as below:

  1. Men A Elite: Akshinthala, Abhinava Kashyap
  2. Men A Elite Doubles: Akshinthala, Abhinava Kashyap + Siddharth Nandala
  3. Men B Advance: Frank Kleiber (Germany)
  4. Mix A Elite Doubles: Shusmita Panigrahi + Siddharth Nandal
  5. Women A Elite: Pooja Shah
  6. Seniors 40+: Ashutosh Avinash Pednekar
  7. Senior 40+ Doubles: Monesh Mashruwala + Ashutosh Avinash Pednekar

In racketlon, one has to play all four racket sports sequentially as TT, Badminton, Squash and Lawn Tennis.

This was the first the country has hosted an International Racketlon Tournament and it has proved out to be a great success. The event was organised by Rajasthan Racketlon under the aegis of Racketlon India Sports Association.

Udaipur to host India’s First International Tournament – Racketlon

Udaipur will be hosting the first-ever International Racketlon Tournament, 1st India Open Racketlon Challenger Tournament 2020, which will be held at Field Club, Udaipur from January 10 to January 12 2020.

As conveyed by Mr Manish Murdai, President Racketlon, and Mr Deepak Bhansali, Vice-President Rajasthan Racketlon, the event which is being organised by Rajasthan Racketlon, under the aegis of Rajasthan India Sports Association will have a total of 46 players. These also include 12 international players from Germany, Switzerland, Great Britain, Hong Kong, Canada, Belgium and Australia.

There are also some renowned names like Commander Ashutosh Pednekar of Indian Navy who Gold Medalist in the 16th World Racketlon Championship and 2019 Finnish Open Double Champion Kevin Ho Ching from Hong Kong who will be participating in the tournament.

The Secretary of Rajasthan Racketlon Association, Vikramaditya Chaufla and Prashant Sen were the members of the Indian Squad for the World Championship in Germany in 2019.

What is Racketlon?

Racketlon is a combination of four racket games viz – Table Tennis, Badminton, Squash and Tennis which competitors play in a sequence.

There will be a total of 6 events in 1st India Open Racketlon Challenger Tournament 2020:

  1. Men A – Elite
  2. Men A – Elite Doubles
  3. Men B – Advanced
  4. Women’s B – Amateur
  5. Seniors 40+ – Singles
  6. Seniors 40+ – Doubles

The event will be held at Field Club from January 10 to January 12, 2020, and every participating player will earn World Ranking Points.
