Udaipur ranked 1st in Rajasthan for less than 10 lakh population: Swachh Survekshan 2020

The Lake City of Rajasthan, Udaipur, has been ranked as the cleanest city in the state with a population of less than 10 lakh under the Swachh Survekshan 2020, the Central government’s annual survey, announced on Thursday.

The city also bagged the 54th spot, in the category of cities with a population between 1 lakh and 10 lakh, in the survey held by the union ministry of housing and urban affairs (MoHUA) under Swachh Bharat Mission. This is a considerable improvement from last year when the city bagged the 136th position on the national level in the category. 25 cities in Rajasthan fall under the category of cities with a population less than 10 lakh.

The city, which ranked 2nd in the state last year, scored 3814.36 out of 6000 points in the 2020 cleanliness survey.

The Udaipur Municipal Corporation authority, which is primarily responsible for taking care of infrastructure development and the civic work in the city, said it is taking necessary measures to perform even better in the 2021 survey.

Udaipur performed well on Direct Observation and Citizens’ Feedback parameters securing 1164 and 1155.30 points respectively out of total 1500.

Udaipur’s Score Card:

  • Service Level Progress – 995.06 out of 1500
  • Certification – 500 out of 1500
  • Direct Observation – 1164 out of 1500
  • Citizen Feedback – 1155.30 out of 1500

The Swachhta survey results were delayed in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. The survey, which covered 4,242 cities and saw the participation of nearly 1.87 crore citizens, was completed in 28 days.

Udaipur, hurry up! Give feedback for Swachh Survekshan 2020 by Jan 31

The final round of Swachh Survekshan 2020 has started, but the city is lagging far behind in citizen feedback evaluation.

Citizen feedback, which has 25% weightage (1,500 marks out of the total 6,000), is for people to share their experiences about the city’s sanitation. The feedback is open till January 31.

The lack of awareness in the city about this feedback system is clearly visible. Since the feedback process will end soon, the Municipal Corporation of Udaipur has also started creating awareness about it.

There are four ways of giving citizen feedback under the Swachh Survekshan 2020. Udaipur is way behind in giving feedback in these four ways.

The feedback received as of 21 January 2020 is as under:

  • City App – 192 feedbacks
  • Portal – 3928
  • IVR – 4
  • Swachta App – 42
