#1 Swami Vivekananda’s Statue Inauguration Ceremony at MLSU :

Mohan Lal Sukhadia Universtiy’s campus witnessed the inauguration ceremony of a statue of Swami Vivekananda on 30th July, 2013. The statue was inaugurated by Mr. Nitin Gadkari (Former President, BJP) the guest list also included various other local dignities namely : Shri Gulab Chand Kataria (MLA), Ms. Rajni Dangi (Mayor), Dr. I V Trivedi (V-C, MLSU) and Mr. Pankaj Borana (President, MLSU). It is noticeable that this statue was sponsored by Udaipur Municipal Corporation.

 

#2 State’s First ‘Tourist Police Station’ Now In Udaipur :

Rajasthan’s first Tourist Police Station was set up in Udaipur on 30th July, 2013. The station was inaugurated by IG, Police Mr. T.C. Damor. This station was set up as per the last budget focusing on installation of tourists oriented police stations in the tourist cities such as Jaipur, Jodhpur and Udaipur. This station is situated near Bagore Ki Haveli. Tourists, in case of any emergency, need or incident can file in their reports in this facility. This facility has a staff strength of 15 police men. These police officials shall also keep an keen eye on the illegal activities and illegal guides in the region.

 

#3 Auctions for Hariyali Amavasya Shop Allocation

The shop auction process for Hariyali Amavasya by Udaipur Municipal Corporation witnessed an overwhelming response. Almost 265 shops were auctioned in just 2 days. The shop set up area excludes the Fatehsagar Paal zone, however the Bambaiya Bazar area will act as the alternative, where about 500 shops will be set up. This auction will continue till 5 August, 2013.

 

#4 Illegal Liquor Worth Rs.30 Lacs Seized By Police

The Goverdhan Vilas Police seized illegal liquor worth Rs. 30 Lac on Balicha Bypass on 28th July, 2013. The CI and ASI were able to seize a truck filled with about 978 cartons of illegally shipped liquor, the truck driver on interrogation by the Goverdhan Vilas Police stated that the truck was illegally transporting Beer and English Liquor from Chandigarh to Ahemdabad. It is noticeable that the truck driver initially made a false statement about the contents of the truck. However, he later confessed of his actions and also told the Police about the other truck which fled the scene on witnessing the police.
